You can exercise compassion and personal forgiveness, while holding her accountable for lying, diverting police resources, etc. I don't see the two as mutually exclusive.

When my little sister was 6, our cousin raped her twice, and continued to touch her until she was 9. She never told anyone until she was 15 and in a residential treatment facility for almost a year. My sister has been raped 5 times in her life so far. And each time this has happened to her, she has been morbidly afraid of her close reletives finding out. Even years later when they find out, she is unable to be around them, or even pass many glances at them.

My sister was raped at 8pm on that Saturday night. Our mom found out the night it happened because my sister was crying so hard. When the cops were called to investigate, the last thing my sister wanted to get out was who and where it happened, out of fear and shame. She came out with what seemed like a good enough coverup. Eventually, it was concluded that what happened didnt happen where we all thought it happened.

I hope you all will stop bouncing around assuming things and calling her out. None of you know the rest of the story.

So are you saying that there is a rapist that the police aren't looking for because you won't come forward?

she is in my payers too- it's so hard these days when women are victimized b/c of all those who have cried wolf that make it tougher for REAL victims, and the sheer pain of having to relive the experience in court, in the press, and apparently on message boards...

glad the guy is caught- i hope he is under the jail with a HUGE mean lascivious pig named Bubba.

I am also glad that the person is in jail, but I still am against misleading the police (according to the news papers at least). I am also sad to hear that it *did* actually happen, but at least the person is taken care of. I wish the best to you and your family for going through this ordeal.

The whole point is to definitely keep it down. I thank you all for your understanding, really. This was something that really needed clearing and closure. It's all finished up with the LCSO by the way.

Crimes against children by adults deserve the death penalty and what happen to this poor child is just unbelievable.

The lesson learned here on the forums is don't jump to conclusions. Imagine if this was anyone of our children and how we would feel.

All of our prayers are with this girl.

AFGM is absolutely right this is non of our business and things like this need to be in the best interest of the victim, not our curiosity.

Arrests are public record. The Sheriffs department could not keep this quiet.

I definitely respect the privacy of victims, but I think everyone's curiosity stems from the fact that such a horrible act may have actually occurred when previously thought that it was a hoax. My mindset with respect to my surroundings is different knowing that such an act did really occur. I personally am not interested in naming names, just curious to know if a violent act really did occur.

afgm, I feel badly about this but it should be made public if there was an arrest. The community needs to know whether someone was arrested and/or convicted. I believe the police department would have announced if, in fact, it was NOT a hoax afterall. Suppose this suspect was just that, determined to be a suspect and is released then at some point it's discovered to be true. Then we have someone roaming the neighborhood who could potentially do this again.

I agree that the victim and her family deserve prayers and privacy.

However, because the majority of this community thinks this was a hoax, I believe it should be made public that this crime did occur. Just as it was revealed to be a "hoax" it needs to now be reported that it did in fact occur.

I'm glad the guy was caught. He is a dirtbag who deserves no mercy.

I verified with the Sheriff's department. They confirmed the "report" was a hoax - not that it didn't happen, but that it may have been a boyfriend or some other reason and to cover she fabricated a story. Sad.

If you must know, the boy was 17. I hope that makes it clear as to why they didn't put it out there. Again, you guys do not know the complete story.
My sister does not even have a bf, she's not an intimately involved person. As I was saying, about the treatment center, she was discharged not too long ago. Supposedly, the boy had tried to offer her drugs following her discharge from the placement. She declined and he forced himself, as he was alledgedly on a substance himself.
