Now that the weather is getting warmer and more people are venturing outside, I thought I would start a thread for us to discuss the local restaurants we have around here. Quite a few new places have opened in the past 6 months, and we have a few more coming in the very near future.

Where have YOU been to eat out recently? How was it? Was it children-friendly? Do you need to call ahead to get a seat?

I've been quite interested in BBQ recently, and a recent post by T8erman got me thinking about starting this thread:

Honerjo - had some BBQ today. We went there to check out catering for a luau we are having. Prices are pretty good ($4.50 for a BIG sandwich, $6.00 for a platter), the guys working there were great, and the BBQ was pretty darn good. We tried both the pork and the beef brisket. Three kinds of sauces, too.

This was in reference to that BBQ place behind MCI, in those brown one-story office buildings across the street. Anyone else try this place? What are their weekend hours?

Anyone try any other 'local' places around here that might be 'hidden'?

It's good, but I'm more partial to mesquite or hicory smoked bbq. If you're evern In Austin, TX you owe it to yourself to try Stubbs. Best I've ever eaten...

Brim, Would that be the same Stubbs marinade I buy at Safeway? It is distrubuted by Stubbs Legendary Kitchen, Inc. in Austin TX. They make the best pork, beef, and chicken marinade ever.:) Great for grilling.

There is a new Greek Place that opened over by Partlows. It was the second night they were opened so take that into consideration. The food was very good, but the service was extremely slow. The prices were middle of the road. I would go back. It was kid friendly. Maybe when Broadlands has no issues to discuss it would be a good place to meet and shake hands. :)

Stubbs in Austin is OK, but if your ever there again, The Iron works downtown, or the County Line BBQ, either has excellent BBQ. Also if you ever find yourself outside of San Antonio, Off 410, Rudy's original.

Texacan is marginal at best and really overpriced.

    Off the BBQ topic,

The Shushi Place is good, try the Honeymoon roll or the Spicy tuna roll.

Also, the Pho Place is great.

One last place, In Leesburg, there is a Salvadoran resturant off the Business 7, close to Mom' Apple pie. Really good grilled chicken (cooked over charcol grill) and other Central American choices. I highly recomend it, try the 1/4 chicken platter with fried Yucca and black beans, under $6.00. Very reasonable,

That's them. When I went there they weren't selling sauce outside of the Austin area so I had to ship back a case of sauce to myself. :) mmm...

A little off topic but does anyone know of someone who does catering? I really don't want a restaurant because I want a wide selection of food. I am looking for someone who can prepare a selection of dishes and hors d'oeuvres for a party. I do not need the whole shebang, tables, linens, servers, etc just the food. I have heard Wegmans will do it. Thanks

Thanks Chris! But let's not stop here! We've only scratched the surface I'm sure!

Here's a question; Where are the best burgers within a 10 mile radius of Broadlands?

    Burgers:
    Fuddruckers in Herndon,
Morton's at Reston Towncenter, expensive but VERY, VERY yummy
Bungalow Billards at Cascades - prefer the chicken cheesesteak
Ned Devines in Herndon - great with a Guinness. Then again, isn't everything???
Red Robin at Dulles Regional Mall - with or without the skinny onion rings on them
My backyard when I get my grill smokin!

I think those places are farther out than 10mi...Red Robin being the exception, I'd forgot about them.
