    REVIEW:
I went to the new Broadlands Pizza place next to Mobil. The pizza was very bland and nondestinct. The philly cheesesteak was pretty good though...

Went to Tawan Thai yesterday - same mall as Buffalo Wing. Very good, even had a small kids menu.

I like the pub a lot. I've been twice so far and have had fun both times. Very casual and comfortable. The owner is a really nice and personable guy. I'm not a smoker and thankfully the ventilation system seems pretty decent so I hardly noticed the people smoking. Had the buffalo wings both times and they are great. Decent amount of meat on them and the right amount of spice. Besides the wings, they've got your typical food as well...quesadilla's, salsa and chips, burgers, salads, calamari, etc. 4 or 5 nice big flat screen tv's with different sports stations showing. This place will be a blast once football season starts (and even more fun if we get the Expo's!!). Surprisingly enough, I've seen a good number of groups of singles in there both times. Food prices seem to be right in line with a typical pub.

We checked out Domani italian restaurant near the old Giant last night (had buy 1, get 1 coupon) and I loved it. The carbonara was excellent and my wife liked her Penne Arribiata (sp).

Think I might check out the Pub today.

Just got back from the pub, unfortunately. I had the blackened chicken sandwich which the menu said came with 'fantastic ancho chile mayo'. When it came out there was no mayo and the piece of chicken was about the size of half a breast...it looked like a small catfish finger. For near $7 I expected a full breast of chicken. Anyhow, the chicken itself was like shoe leather; extremely tough and dry. I think the chef thinks 'blackened' means you cook it until it's black because it was way overcooked (which may have contributed to it's size)...but it did have blackening spices on it. Dry, dry, dry.

The menu was really spartan, there was only about 6 items on the 'entree' page which was 8"x14". The back page mentions that their 'executive chef' has 'just returned from the US Open!'...what's that about? Maybe he was in attendance, but I doubt that chicken sandwich came from anyone's 'executive chef'. Anyhow, I expected more...but I can't speak for the rest of the menu.

We had dinner at Nagoya Japanese Steak & Seafood tonight and it was awesome. Our chef was excellent- he was amazing with spinning the egg, making a volcano, tossing shrimp into each of our mouths (my 3-year-old loved that one!) and clickity clacking with his spatula. Not only was it fun to watch, but the scallops were the MOST tender and delicious I have ever had!

The Broadlands Pub had nothing on TAP when we were there Sunday, the taps were all down, and they only had bottled, expesive bottle (Domestic $4.25).

To be honest, the food was marginal and overpriced. With Clydes coming and Kirkpatricks over in Ashburn, Broadlands Pub needs to kick it up a few notches.

    T8erman-
The tap is disappointing: Bud, Bud Light, Miller Light, Dominion Ale, Yuengling Lager, Sam Adams lager.

You know that a pint of Guinness has less calories than a pint of orange juice, right? "I love the taste of Guinness in the morning! Tastes like...VICTORY."

(OK, I'm not really sure that this caloric information is correct, but that's what I always heard when I was living in London. And it is how I justified every one of the numerous pints I consumed while over there.)

No, you misunderstand. I love Guiness. When I was in the Bahamas the Guiness slogan was (in Bahamian accent) "Guiness is good for you!" usually followed by "Mon". There's a Guinness plant in the Bahamas, weird.

Any talk of a Mexican/TexMex restaurant coming to Broadlands? I would love a Baja Fresh/Chipotle/Rio Grande style place out here. Let's organize a march for Mexican!

Nagoya is at the Giant shopping center, corner of Claiborne and Ashburn Farm. It is our absolute favorite restaurant, because the food is always good, the service is always great, and the place is very clean.

I understood. I was just giving you some ammunition if you ever get any grief from anyone about drinking it.

I was motivated by my own post to check my facts (from: http://webpages.marshall.edu/~bennett7/guinness/guinqna.htm):
Guinness is no more fattening or calorific than any other beer of similar alcoholic strength. The beer has no fat, however it does contain protein, sugar, carbohydrates and alcohol. The alcohol accounts for 65-75% of the calorific content irrespective of the beer in question. Per pint, Draught Guinness has 210 calories; as a reference, one pint of semi-skimmed milk has 260 calories and one pint of orange juice has 220 calories. Draught Guinness actually has fewer calories than most other premium beers and lagers.

Pretty cool, huh? While stationed in London I took a weekend trip to Dublin with some friends. Can you guess the one tourist attraction we visited? Yup, you guessed it -- the Guinness factory. The tour includes a pint in their on-site pub. Nothing better than drinking it from the source!

Speaking of caloric information, check this link out...

    ...I'll never eat there again.

I agree, I love eating there. It's a little pricy, especially for the sushi, but it's the best stuff around here. I've never sat at one of the grill-tables, just the two-person tables, but the stuff off the menu is excellent as well. And it's clean!
