I'm completely unaffiliated with Boomer but I will say that when I researched automatic litter boxes (yes, I thoroughly researched poop boxes :rolleyes3: ; I'm just that nerdy) that the Litter Robot received outstanding reviews. I didn't buy it because it was $300. But if you're willing, that's definitely the one!

Are the reviews from vendors? Everyone I've talked to who has purchased one ends up with a cat urinating outside of the box due to the small size of the contraption or it turns on while they're using it! Scares them enough to never go near it again. And it wouldn't be practical for an elderly cat that has diffilculty walking and has to step up into it. Cleaning it must be a nightmare also.

The reviews on Amazon and epinions and some other sites are very good. I don't have one so I haven't any personal experience with them. I have three cats and some prefer the plain litter box with clumping litter and some the ScoopFree crystals box. All of them like the homemade one I put out: I bought an under-bed long plastic box (Sterlite brand) and they all seem to like the luxury of extra space. :rolleyes3: Or maybe it's just the closest.

From the research I did (I'm such a geek) it seems like no one box in particular is perfect for every cat. Two of ours are around 14 pounds so they might be pickier about size. There are top entry litter boxes, but those might not be good for older cats with less agility. Maybe toilet training a cat is easier...

Still available -- I'm lazy and haven't sold it yet, because I can't find a box big enough to ship it in if I listed it on eBay!

Cleaning it is easy -- you can take the orb outside and hose it down, but it doesn't need it very often. The tray at the bottom you just stick kitty liners in and throw the bags away.

Also, it can't turn on when they are inside -- it has a pressure switch which you can adjust the sensitivity of. My kitty got used to it no problem -- put a regular litter box next to it and then after a week took it away and she was fine with it!

depends on the size of the dog =) The poop should be gone by the time the dog wants some unless he just stakes out the cat when he's making a deposit =)

I don't put it past my dogs to do that.
