I'm moving to the Broadlands next week and I'll be looking for a new barber. Nothing fancy, just your typical military-type cut.

My wife will also be looking for a hairstylist, but she's not looking for the same type!

    Any suggestions?

My husband uses Broadlands Barber, directly next to the Safeway. Hien cuts my husband's hair and both our boys (They are two years and 11 months old). They charge $12.00 for my husband and $10.00 for the kids. She is great with the kids (100% better then Cartoon Cuts) and she finally weaned my husband of that standard military haircut but I am sure she wouldn't mind cutting it that way for anyone who wants it :D!

As for your wife, I use Eclipse Salon over in Ashburn Village. Stephanie cuts and colors my hair. She is very good but I am always shocked when I pay the bill! I can't remember exactly but I think it'a about $55.00 for the haircut. Hope this helps.

I second that the Broadlands Barber is great -- especially for military cuts. I think this barbershop has given my husband the best (military) cut he's ever had.

Don't know about barber, but for a salon I'd recommend Carlos Hair Design. A bit on the pricey side also, not quite as high as Eclypse though. Carlos knows his stuff, especially when it comes to color.

Carlos Hair Designers - Ashburn 703-729-1077

They are in the shopping center at the corner of Ashburn Farms and Ashburn Road (where the Shoppers is).

Many thanks! I'll give him a try. I'd been continuing to go to my former sylist in Reston but would much prefer someone closer to home.

I like the Ashburn Barbershop over by the Giant in Ashburn Village. Prices are right and it's got a nice barbershop feel, open and airy, wood floor. I've had good luck with haircuts from two of the women there.

I'm sure the Broadlands Barbershop is fine, but I found it kind of clausterphobic and a bit too cutsey design on first impression stepping in.

My wife uses Carlos too, in the Shopper's Food shopping center. He does a great job.

I just went to Scarlet O'Haira's for the first time yesterday and was very impressed and satisfied. Sima was my stylist and she is known for being exceptional with color. They're located at the Shops at Cedar Lakes on Route 7 in Sterling. tel: 703 430 6810. Or, check out their web site: www.ohairas.com
