Ok, so our neighbors are young and play their music too loud. They look at you with a blank face when you kindly ask them to turn it down. They don't give a hoot and just keep playing it too loud. It's so loud we can hear it with our windows shut. I really hate to call the police. At the same time, it's quite annoying. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Oh how nice of them, they've turned it up even louder! Damn, what is wrong with people? I just don't understand how some people can be so rude! Do they think their neighbors don't care? Sorry for the rant. I'll stop. :D

Complain to the HOA. Or if it gets out of hand call the sheriff's dept. No reason for them to be rude.

    Teak,

What can the HOA do? I did a search on here and a post from last year stated there is no rules on noise until after 11PM. I'm going to try to research it and see if that's right. That seems crazy to me.

    Thanks for your input.

Well I'm sure if I blast music from my house that can be heard a block away, the HOA can send me a nasty letter. It doesn't hurt to call the HOA office and ask. The next step would be the sherriff's non emergency number. And talk to other neighbors to see if it's a problem with them.

If it's past 10pm I believe then they are in county violation and you can call the police. I believe it's 10 pm. Most counties have these noise ordinances. I searched loudoun.gov but could not find anything. If you have politely asked them to stop and they refuse then they are just deserving a visit in my opinion. I would never call the cops without talking to them first though.

This is my largest pet peeve, btw. Inconsiderate jackasses and their music deserve a fate worse than a letter from the HOA.

I can say that we have not had a problem at all with loud neighbors. I can't hear them at all. I know that with my stereo turned up pretty loud that walking outside I can't hear it so they must be playing it very loud.

They were actually playing it outside and partying outside. They were at it until about 1AM when either a cop noticed or another neighbor had enough of it and called them. They went flying towards the woods when the cop drove by. Guess they were doing more then drinking and playing loud music. ;)

There is a noise ordinance enforced by the county. A call to the sheriff's non-emergency number will result in a car being sent to take care of the issue.
