I recently changed my work schedule, so I get to keep my 4 year old home with me on Tuesdays and Wednesday. She loves staying home for those 2 days from school but at the same time, I think she's getting bored from doing the same activities. I have a question for any moms in the area if they know of any fun places that I could take my daughter to during those two days. We've been going to the indoor swimming pool in Leesburg, but is there any story times, craft classes, music classes,, etc? I've been a working mom since she was 4 months old, so I'm not used to being a sort of "stay-home" mom during the week, which I really like..:)
    Thanks !

How about ice skating, library, take her to a museum in DC or around the area. How about baking some cookies or a cake or something interesting. That'll take up like an hour or so. Buy a lego set or ask your her what she like to do.

Chuck E Cheese? When I was a kid, that was my favorite place. Give me some tokens and a footlong hotdog and I was a happy camper.

Kassiabi, I have two children a bit younger than yours. We like the library and visit at least once a week. They have several programs geared towards younger kids. I also understand Reston has a zoo but outdoor activities are not the best idea these days. Dulles Town Center has an indoor playground. We go every week. Of course there's always Gymboree or Little Gym. I have recently joined MOMS Club of Ashburn. They have lots to do.

One of our favorite things to do is to visit the farms/animal parks in the area. (Of course this is for MUCH WARMER weather but still nice to know about!) We go to Leesburg Animal Farm Park (Rt. 15 S in Leesburg), Great Country Farm in Bluemont, and Cox Farms in Centreville. Hayrides, pick-your-own fruit/veggies, feeding the animals, pony rides, etc are just some of the things to do. When we go, I pack a lunch and plan on being there several hours. Email me if you'd like more info.

Thanks Sarasmom and Pdonnadurk for the great tip. I do know of the petting zoo/farm in Reston and the chantilly farm. We've been to one farm in bluemont as well,,, very nice way to entertain kids but of course, when the weather permits. We've been living in Ashburn area for bit more than a year, so where is the closest library here? only library I know is all the way in Reston. I also have question about the little gym. Do they only accept children in memebership bases? I have to go check that place out,, As for the Gymboree class, most of their classes gear towards kids under the age of 4. My daughter went to baby gymboree class for a bit when she was much younger,, I did speak to one of the branches back in November, but was informed at that time that all the classes they offer are for children under the age of 4. Thanks a bunch for the great info and please keep me posted if you find out about any great places that we could go with kids !

    Kassiabi -
The Ashburn Library is on Hay Rd. - take Claiborne North(into Ashburn Farm)- at the stoplight at Hay Rd. turn right. The library is down on the left (pass Winwood school and the pool).

The merry-go-round at the mall is a big hit. We had to ride it twice today. :)

Little Gym has classes for older kids. I'm pretty sure you can take a free trial class before you enroll. Their # is 703-723-0011.
