    Fellow Foodies--

I went today to the Grand Opening of the NEW Whole Foods which opened today by the Dick's Sporting Goods at Fair Lakes Parkway near Fair Oaks Mall. This store is the ORGANIC version of Wegmans.

I went shopping with my 9 week old twins and with a girlfriend to check out the NEW Whole Foods store concept. Superb service and food. We all ate lunch and shopped. They had free giveaways, etc.

The Whole Foods has a gelato bar, handmade chocolate and candies, a huge coffee and expresso bar, meat and seafood market that rivals Wegmans, cooking classes with children and adults, freshest produce and larger that Wegmans, and other foodie treats! They also have a raw oyster bar, sushi bar, nutrition education area (which I consult with for future nutrition events, etc.), brick-oven pizzeria, huge salad bar and take-out area, smoked pork, smoked chicken and turkey steam tables, and other things that Wegmans may not offer. It is open now at 8 am and closes by 10 pm, I believe.

Highly recommend you check it out. They have over 300 selections of wines from all over the country. Great place!!

Definitely good eats--not too busy--we left around noon.

    Foodies--

Well, my friends from Georgia, the babies, and myself ventured back to the new Whole Foods in Fairfax. It was not crowded at all. We went at 10 am and had lunch. I shopped and got great food, etc.

If you get a chance to check it out--let me know. Today's Washington Post Food Section has a front page article detailing the new store. I am working on a kids nutrition program for Whole Foods and would like some "feedback" on the "feedbag" (pun intended!!) and what your opinions are on the store concept. They will have cooking classes with chefs and kids cooking classes.

    Thanks,

    Foodie

    Foodies--

Has anyone got an opinion on the new Whole Foods in Fairfax? I shop there frequently and think produce selections are better than Wegmans.

Whole Foods also has a HALF PINT Kids Club which I am helping coordinate nutrition and cooking activities for kids. Great place.

While I like a great grocery store just like most people, driving 35-40 minutes to get there seems a bit much to me. I might have more interest if the whole foods was within 5-10 minutes. Must be more like an hour from Purcellville. Thats two hours round trip.
