I would like to get a petition started for our neighborhood. I was very surprised by the small turnout last Monday night at the county meeting. Maybe there are those that are still not aware of the boundary changes?

Is there someone who can intelligently write a petition? I am happy to do all the leg work to get it signed. Think we should have it in by the last meeting which is Monday, April 3rd.

If there are those who do not want to speak at the meetings at least we could have something in writing. I have sent an email to Bob Dupree. Please send emails to the Board as well. I feel like there are a small number of us fighting this battle.

    Please help!

I believe the Farmers (?) oppose the plan because it splits Sanders Corner elementary into two MSs instead of all going to one.

I'm no good at petition writing either, but I will sign one!

I've taken a look at all the proposals. In many of the proposals, Belmont CC's neighbohood is also split - maybe that's why they like the proposal the staff is recommending.

If this is the case, Plan 330 will keep their neighborhood together and our kids in the Broadlands can stay at ERMS.

The only problem with the plan is that the boundaries proposed in Plan 330 makes it so Stone Hill would open with only 290 students. If Brambleton was moved into Plan 330 (as it is in the Staff Recommended plan) that would push up the numbers to a more feasible amount of students.

Plan 330 also keeps DN 44 and DN 43 in ERMS, as well as some other neighborhoods that currently go to ERMS.

A couple of us got together today and put a petition together. We've never done one before, but took some suggestions from Mr. DuPree and did our best. We plan to hit the road this afternoon and go door to door. We would appreciate any help we can get. We would certainly welcome someone else's expertise and/or writing ability, but time is running out and we want to get started ASAP.

We based it simply on the fact that if they keep the recommended plan they are considering now and simply add us back in, ERMS still keeps their total population under their building capacity through 2011. It keeps our children in our neighborhood and saves time to/from school and saves the taxpayer the added transportation costs.

Keep in mind as well, the other 10 plans they considered that are on the website ALL included DN 44 in Eagle Ridge's boundary. The recommended plan is the only one that eliminates us.

Thanks to all those who are supporting our cause.

The next public input meeting is this Monday, 6:30pm, at the School Admin. building.

In our door to door petition drive, we are finding most people in our neighborhood to be unaware of this issue. The neighbors on Milford are trying to round up as many people as they can to show up for the Monday night meeting (March 27). They encourage everyone to speak before the board that wants to, but are trying to find one person to speak and represent all of them.

Everybody counts on this one. Please show up and support this effort. If you can't make it, please email the board! Get the word out to your neighbors and let's fill up the seats at this meeting!

I am new to the area and support the petition (a few of you came by our house on Milford Drive today). I think it would be helpful if you posted the actual address for the location of this meeting so I can get directions on Mapquest. Maybe others would benefit from this as well?

Thank you for your support. The address for the Loudoun County Public Schools Administration building is 21000 Education Court, Ashburn VA 20148 (it is a new building and I was not able to get it to come up on MapQuest, Google or Yahoo). It is here in the Broadlands. Take Claiborne to Broadlands Blvd (four way stop by the shopping center where Safeway is located) and take a left. Follow the road a short distance and turn right into Education Court. You can't miss it.

Thank you, given that the meeting is so close then a lot of us should be able to attend!

I'll be happy to speak again and represent those in attendance who prefer to have a single spokesman. I will simply ask all those in attendance that support my comments to stand.
I will commit to this as long as the people commit to showing up.
If you have signed petitions of folks who cannot attend, be sure to gettheir names and addresses and I'll submit that as well.

Thank you Cliff. My husband spoke at the first one. I will prepare something to say and will either speak at this one or the last one. I'm wanting to be sure that we are represented at each meeting.

I'm in a "safe" area, too, but find this unbelievable myself. ALL of the plan proposals had DN44 at Eagle Ridge, and then once it gets to the recommendation, it is moved. Very strange. How did this Monday's meeting go?

    Cliff,
As parents that live in DN44 we are very upset about the proposal to send our children to a school outside of the Broadlands, especially when Eagle Ridge is less than 4 blocks from our home. From the feedback that I have received from our Representative Mr. Dupree the best way we can make our point is to show up at the public meetings in significant numbers. The population in DN44 is a small portion of the Broadlands community and we are asking for help from our neighbors outside of Southern Walk. Please get the word out to your neighbors to show up at the meeting on Monday at 6:30 at the Loudon County School Administration building on Broadlands Blvd. to demonstrate to the board that we as a community do not support any decision to split up the Broadlands. We appreciate all of your help!

    Thanks,
    Larry Campbell

FYI - the decision on this issue was tabled until the May 9th meeting. Still time to fire off more emails supporting our cause to keep DN44 at Eagle Ridge.

At the meeting last night, when asked if he still supported the staff recommended plan after all the input from others, Dr. Adamo stated he did.

Two school Board members, Robert DuPree and Bob Ohneiser, have submitted plans. Both of them keep DN44 in Eagle Ridge. They are both up for viewing on the website.

Thank you for pointing that out Cliff. I did not mean to imply that we don't have support from any board members, which we obviously do.

Mr. Andrews also indicated his plan should be posted on the site today as well.

    Thanks,
    Angie

I really like Bob Onheiser's plan. It makes the most sense. Mr Dupree's plan is a little choppy, but it does include DN44, and is better than the current recommended plan.

Of course Dr Adamo is going to back up his staff's plan. But he doesn't live here, does he? His neighborhood is not being split in half. So hopefully, the powers that be will see that the staff recommended plan is not the best plan for our students.
