    Homer,

Thanks for the ideas. Yep, twist my arm, I will just have to try those out to compare. We should always make sure we have a complete set of data on these matters....

I too have often witnessed such a scene. Seems as though most middle aged men in this area are just plain arrogant A@#'s anyways. I've never been in such an area where there is such a dense concentration of stupidity. The ones I see here all remind me of "Biff" from the movie "Back to the Future".

I've heard it called testosterone poisoning !! However, I think its more that sense of entitlement that permeates alot of Ashburn.

Mezza Grill opened today (next to Pucchio's). They also serve breakfast.
Clyde's is planning on opening Friday.

Ate at Cafe Panache last night. Service was great, food was excellent and at a quality level above the price.

The whole meal took about an hour, but my 10 mo old was fine through the whole thing. But an hour is what I expect when going to a mid-level to lower-high tier place.

I took the kids to Del Rey for lunch the day after thanksgiving. The service was fairly prompt although the check could have been delivered about 5-10 minutes sooner. The food wasn't that great, but was ok. But I would still recommend it, because I can't walk to any other mexican restaurants. Contrary to others opinions, the proximity of a restaurant is the most important factor when choosing a restaurant. I won't be driving to gaithersburg to get great food.

We ate at IHOP tonight (FYI – the place was pretty empty between 5:00 – 6:00 pm) and right on the menu they state, “Our hearty omelets are made with a splash of our famous buttermilk and wheat pancake batter for extra fluffiness”.

    Re: New Restaurants

I ate dinner at Fosters Grille, which opened today by the new Giant near Home Depot. The burgers and fries are excellent, as are the chocolate shakes and lemonade! The place is nice and the staff was friendly. No first day snafus in my experience. It was a little pricier than I anticipated, but still reasonable (I thought they would be more in the Five Guys price range). The burgers are $7.90, but they come with fries and a drink, so it works out pretty well. In addition to booth and table seating, they have barstools at the counter. TVs were on showing sports channels and they have a few video games near the back. Good place to take the kids, too. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you when it's ready.

Villager, did you happen to notice if the daily special today was the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich? That's their usual Wednesday special. Mmmmmm. I didn't realize they opened. I am so there.

I was there for lunch and that is what it was. :)

First time to eat at a fosters and found it as good or better then five guys.

I also was surprised by the prices until I saw it included a drink and fries.

They also have happy hour specials for beer and wings.

    Can't wait for Clyde's!!!

Has anyone been to the Steakhouse lately? I'm so so so so so sad! We went last night. Hadn't been in a few weeks. They have changed the menu, taken off all of the healthy options and raised prices $2-$5 per entree. It was the first time that I was truly disappointed with the quality of the food and we actually opted to leave the leftovers rather than goodie bag them home like normal. I guess they have a new owner, but I am of the opinion-if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We probably will not go back again. We used to go once every two or three weeks.

    Bring it on Clyde's.

For those that have been to Foster's Grille how is the non-smoking section? I would think in a place like that it could get pretty smokey.

In Brambleton it looks like Scotto's Rigatoni Grill opens today. I walked in last night and picked up a menu and it looks like a nice place with a good menu. Probably a little bit cheaper than San Vito, but not quite as nice inside. I saw lots of pizza boxes stacked up so assume they will do a big carryout business. I didn't see Chicken as on option on the pizzas so if they can't do it will have to stick with Brickoven for their Chicken pizza!

Now that you mention it, I didn't notice anyone smoking. I don't know if it is a non-smoking restaurant or what, but nobody seemed to be smoking while we were there, even a the bar area. I hope it stays that way!! Still, it's a fairly roomy place with high ceilings so if people do smoke it shouldn't be as bad as some places.

I look forward to trying the Scotto's place!

mdcrim, I completely second your opinion on the Steakhouse. We went there last night for the first time in a while and boy were we disappointed. It's almost like everything we liked about it has changed. New menu, food (esp. the steaks) were a notch lower than before, the rolls were stale, the salad was really bad, the music was unbearably loud. We won't be back for a long time. It is really sad - we used to love that place!

Slightly off topic: had a horrible Buffalo Wing Factory experience the other night, poor service, lousy food. Won't go back. Place was empty as well. "Reckoning" is coming around here for all the mediocre restuarants now that competition has moved in.

And all our old favorites are no longer on the menu. The prices have gone up as well. Now it's just a loud, obnoxious, expensive, bland food pick-up joint. It's really a shame.
