My family and I are moving to the Broadlands early next month. I would like some information and feedback on the following utilities:

    - Electric
    - Water
    - Gas
    - Phone
    - Internet
    - Cable or satellite service

Thanks in advance for your help, we look forward to living in the Broadlands!

Check the Broadlands development web page at:

    http://www.broadlands.org/broadlands_home.html

and select Community Resources on the left side for local and county contact information.

Also, download a copy of the latest HOA newsletter at:

    http://hoa.broadlands.org/hoa/newsletter/index.html

If these don't provide the information you want, ask more specific questions here.

Good luck with your move and welcome aboard...

    Welcome to Broadlands!
Many of the homes here have only one option for high speed internet access - Adelphia cable. Some in Southern Walk and the newer areas have Open Band as an option. There is a forum here on Open Band if you are moving into a home that has it. I am not aware of any DSL options. I have found Adelphia's internet service to be decent but expensive. It costs around $57 per month unless you have their cable service which is disappointing. Most people I know have satellite. I chose Dish Network which has an excellent picture. Good luck with your move.

FYI - the new homes in Southern Walk don't have an "option" - we GET Open Band. (No bitterness - one of the reasons we bought there.)

I notice that the garbage co. is listed. I was thinking that was included in HOA fees. Am I wrong? We are settling on 3 June (and the letter with this info is still "in the mail").

Garbage pickup is definitely included in the HOA fees - you need to call the garbage company (AAA) to schedule delivery of your trash bin and recycling bin.

I hope you have better luck getting a recycling bin than we did. We have lived here for 6 months and have made numerous phonecalls to request one -- we are still waiting...[V]

Actually, you do have an option. You can "use" other satellite providers if you choose. BUT, you do have to pay OpenBand whether you use them or not as it is in the contract.

Well, as long as I am paying for it, I figure I might as well have it come into my house... :)
