    I am also on Highview Trail and they picked up our trash -- which we had put in our old AAA toter. I watched them to make sure they would, and they looked in all the old AAA toters outside, dumped those (like mine) that had trash in them, picked up my neighbor's bags which were curbside.

    Cliff, Neil, and everyone else involved... thanks for saving us $220k! So we don't have new toters yet... and my recycling is stacking up because I don't have a bin to put it in... minor inconvenience. I can live with it for a while. For $220k I can definitely live with it awhile.

    Something else I forgot to mention yesterday regarding New Vision....

    One of my neighbor's bags on the curb split when it was picked up and the guys working the truck picked up each piece of spilled trash by hand.

    This was the first trash day in over a year where I haven't had to pick debris off our lawn after the garbage truck came through.

    I would like to get our toters soon though - especially with spring break coming up and lots of people going on vacation. It's an invitation to thieves to break into empty homes if there are cans dropped off at the curb and left there for a week because no one is home to bring them in.

    Not picking up spilled trash = AAA's problem
    Strong-arming the HOA and jacking the prices in the middle of an existing contract = AAA's problem
    Not happy with the HOA's decision without giving any input at the meetings = Your problem

    Whats your beef with NV, Mdecenzo? You work for the new owners of AAA? They have just started give them a break. AAA has gone down hill since they were taken over.

    On Arbor Glen we still have the AAA recycle bins along the street. They picked up the toters and left the recycle bins. Are we expecting them to make another pass to pick them up?

    If not, I can still use it for my recycling as I can always use a second bin!
    If it isn't picked up by Saturday night, I'll assume they aren't coming back for them.

    Actually, I think the guys from the Soprano's bought AAA, cause they came in a month after the new contract started with an offer we couldn't refuse! Pay up, or we're out of here in 30 days.

    If you talk with anyone in the Village about New Vision, you'll find that they are VERY HAPPY with the company. Saying that they're a worse trash company after 3 days, because of an issue beyond their control, is very superficial.

    I'd agree with Homer on this point... as for the HOA, it’s really easy to blame them for everything and anything. The truth is they did the right thing by switching service providers. The resident members volunteer their time to represent the best interest of the 6K+ homeowners in the Broadlands area. I'll admit the new service has started off a bit rocky - but with any change there will be growing pains.

    Well it is Tuesday and no new containers. Any update on when they are going to be delivered to those of us who don't have them yet?

    A previous post said New Vision should have the new toters today. That doesn't necessarily mean that WE will have them by today.

    Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but those of us on Middle Ridge / Stone Wheel, and Summerhouse have only had some of the recycle bins picked up, a few trash can's picked up, and nothing from NV. If the AAA isn't gone by thursday, and I have the NV toter, I am putting the AAA toter in the NV toter.

    Hopefully we will get the new toters from NV by thursday, and the old AAA will be gone

    Join the rest of us ... the way I look at it ... if they're not picked up by Thursday, I'm all for having New Visions tote them away, and sending AAA the bill for cleanup.

    AAA Recycle bins were picked up today on Hidden Pond. But the "newer" AAA toters are still loitering...

    My impression was just the opposite. I was home when New Vision picked up on our street. Some bags that were left out had been pecked open by a few of those huge black birds and the garbage was strewn around the bags. They took the time and picked up every single bit of trash. I was also pleased at how much SLOWER they drove down our street than AAA generally did.

    While I'm all for saving big bucks and giving AAA the boot, I think it might have been prudent to continue with them for another week or two until we were sure New Vision could deliver the new bins and toters. We already have plenty of squirrels, mice, etc. in our neighborhood and trash laying out on the street in bags isn't going to help.

    Our contract required us to give AAA 30 days notice to cancel the contract. 30 days ago, New Vision had no idea their supplier would not have the toters ready.
    Since AAA was once again unable to fulfill their commitment to pick up their toters/bins last Saturday, at least those that still have AAA toters have one to put the trash in!

    THIS JUST IN:

    Please put your trash and recyclables out for pickup tomorrow, Thursday April 6, even if you have not yet received a toter or bin.
    Trash and recyclables may be left at the curb in plastic bags. New
    Visions will pick them up Thursday starting at 7 am.

    This is straight from the HOA... Please let your neighbors know and pass the word around.
