Good question; I'm just relaying the email info I got from Maureen & Staci this morning. I'll ask upstream and see what they say...

I just checked the March newletter online. It says that Mondays are for yard waste only. The rest of the recyclables are picked up on Thursdays.

    Latest update !!!

New Visions contacted the HOA and has informed them that the toters are on their way from the plant in Georgia, and should arrive tomorrow afternoon or Friday.

They have pledged to have all toters and bins delivered by 3 PM on Saturday. They do regret the inconvenience as they are determined to provide superior service to their customers.

    Re: New Trash Service

Again, I bring up spring break/Easter and folks going out of town for the week... I know of people who have already left on vacation. It's an invitation to thieves to have these sitting out on the curb for a week (as well as a violation of HOA regulations). Not everyone has house sitters arranged.

    Here's an idea:

"Hi [insert neigbhor's name here], so nice to talk to you again. Any chance you could wheel my trash bin up next to my house when it gets delivered while I'm out of town? Thanks. We'll have to get together for a beer when I get back."

[OK, there's a bit of sarcasm here (ya think?). My point is that you should be friendly enough with at least one of your neighbors to be able to ask them to do this small favor for you.]

or for the people already out of town (since you know who they are) move their trashcan for them.

    Teamwork :)

That's fine and dandy if there's a neighbor here later this week/next week....

    Re: New Trash Service

I would hope that most folks are "on the lookout" for one another...ie: if I notice a trash "toter" even a few doors away standing out a few days in a row, I'd roll it up near the house.

All AAA trash cans and recycle bins are now gone from our street as of today. Too bad there was not a slight overlap in service from one to the other maybe but I vote for giving NV the benefit of the doubt.

I am amazed at how spun up some people seem to be? We still do not have our new NV toter but at this point it is really is not that big of a deal to collect our trash in plastic bags. Now, I admit if it goes on for a month or so it might get a little old but its only the first week.

Take it easy...maybe we need a little more of this attitude in this area??...wait your turn at the stop signs, slow down in the school zone on Claiborne and take a neighbor's trash can back if you notice it is out an extra day or so. Take time to smell the Spring flowers!

Well...if no neighbors are around anywhere, then I would say thievery won't need trash cans as a clue to opportunity.

    Re: New Trash Service

I made sure that my toter was left out this morning. Now it has been joined by seven other friends. That's right, there are eight (count 'em, 8) toters bunched up in front of my house. Apparently my curb was chosen as some sort of aggregation point before the toters are re-assimilated into the Borg Collective (i.e., AAA). I certainly hope they're gone by tomorrow... especially with this wind.

Since I can't seem to resist posting about trash....

We acquired an additional 26 toters earlier today. AAA came back by and tore the wheels off them and then shoved them all into the back of a compactor so they can become landfill fodder.

    Re: New Trash Service

    Hi There,

We also had a collection of about 20 of the "newer" AAA toters at the end of our street this afternoon. Was intriqued by what was going on so took a peek from time to time...I noticed that a regular trash collection truck was collecting a few of them at a time (using the compacting trash portion of the truck for transporting 3-4 at a time down the streets--did not notice any actual compacting of the cans).
The truck was rounding them up and then taking them off and adding them to the pile at the end of the street. Then a couple hours later I noticed that the regular trash truck came back and was emptying the cans to get out any leftover trash. At the same time a pick up truck from AAA arrived and they dismantled the wheels and made 2 neat stacks laying in the flatbed of the truck. It appears they will reuse them? All AAA toters and recycle bins over here are now history and hopefully the NV will arrive by the weekend.

I love it how they treat their 'toters' so nicely now, but when they were under contract with us, they couldn't care less about them or about our trash flying all over the place and customer service... I can go on and on, you all know what I mean... Good riddance, AAA!

    Re: New Trash Service

K so I didn’t read the March newsletter (Guilty), which means I had no idea that pickup days changed. I also still have my AAA can….will the new company pick up my trash in the AAA can until I get the new one?

    -fw
Ps. AAA Can have this old can back, its about due for an oil change.

    Re: New Trash Service

They may, but don't quote me on that! However, you may have to call AAA to have them pick up the old one. In future, please read the newsletter, or check the HOA and Armstrong Connect websites. News of importance to all Broadlands homeowners will be posted on all these areas.

Information that the HOA has in advance will always be placed in the Newsletter, as well as the websites. Late Breaking news will be on the websites only, on the first page.

2000 bins/toters are on their way from the manufacturing plant in Las Vegas. As of yesterday, they were in Georgia. New Vision expects delivery of them today or tomorrow and will distribute them on Saturday.
