Thanks! Yeah, the streest beside and infront of us received theirs. We are a small group tucked away and may have just been overlooked.

Since Monday is May 1st and there is a planned boycott by immigrants nationwide, I wonder if the trash will get picked up. Any word on a back-up date should this happen?

:banned: Gee...I am an immigrant (all be it , now a naturalized US Citizen)...does this mean I get to boycott work on Monday:shakehead: - oh well guess someone else will have to install Loudoun County's Public Safety Wireless M2MP Network..oh wait an immigrant couldn't possibly have another job other than picking up trash and cleaning up someone's house.:screwy:

    Re: New Trash Service

I realize that immigrants do all types of work, from trash removal to high tech and medicine. I meant no disrespect towards any immigrants and support immigrant rights. I was merely wondering what would happen if the boycott being planned results in no trash pickup on Monday. Since this thread is about trash service, I thought it would be a good place to ask the question.

Surfboarder, it *is* a good question. You just need to filter out the 'noise' from certain folks who enjoy 'inflaming' certain threads with useless comments...

For what it's worth, as of 8:30am, the TH section around Vestals & Claiborne had NOT been picked up yet...

Yes, trash is being picked up today. They just left my street in Broadlands North.

Remember, the trash company can start pickup at 7:00 am, and continue through the evening. Do not expect your trash to be gone first thing in the morning.

    Re: New Trash Service

Does anyone know which way New Vision wants the totter facing? The totter states that the handle should be towards the curb. (Which I believe is opposite of what was on the old totters.) I have been home during pick-up, so I do not know if they have the automated grabbers on the truck. If they don’t I think it would be easier if the handle was facing the street for easy manual grabbing.

Wow...I hadn't thought about toter etiquette in terms of how to position it at the curb. I'm all for knowing how to help others, especially those folks who do difficult jobs like picking up the trash. So if anyone can provide information on how to place the toters at the curb, I'd be grateful. (ahem...not that I often put the garbage out, but I could pass along the info to my dear hubby who does garbage duty.) Thanks!

ehoward -- I have seen them pick up the garbage and they do not have the "grabbers" on the truck. The guys pick up the cans the old fashioned way.

A note about the new trash service, they even picked up a very large slab of concrete we dug out of our garden. We put it on the curb to call VM to come and get their trash, but New Vision carted it off.

    Re: New Trash Service

So far we have no complaints about the new trash service and their work.....but we're not thrilled that they have been coming down our street at waaaay before 7am (which is the earliest they are supposed to right?). I leave for work at 6:30 and have passed them in our court on several occasions.

Maybe I'm wrong about the 7am start time and since I leave so early its not waking me up BUT I know that my kids and the other kids on the street dont need to be woken quite that early!

    Re: New Trash Service

You are correct about the 7:00 AM start time. I heard them coming down Small Branch at around 6:40 am, my back windows open on the Stream Valley park and I'm on Marsh Creek.

I called the HOA office, seems that one of the staff was out walking today at 6:30 am and saw them starting. She contacted the company about this. I suspect that it won't happen again.

    Re: New Trash Service

Not only did they come early this morning (at 6:15 am, they were already circulating on Ridgeway near the Nature Center), but they have arrived prior to 7:00 in that area every pick-up day for the past two weeks. A few minutes early would not be a big deal, but it is every time. And I still don't have my recycle bins! I am not impressed!

Recycle bins were delivered weeks ago. If you did not get one or if it disappeared, call them up. They'll get you one.

    Re: New Trash Service

I was working from home yesterday and saw my trash get picked up. I was very bothered as my trash was completely picked through and they took some items. This really bothered me-- when I throw something out-- I'm assuming it's getting disposed of. I don't expect others to be going through it all.

Once you put it on the curb its public. They're just giving you the courtesy of being upfront about it. What do you think goes on at the dumps? Dumpster diving, thats what.

    Re: New Trash Service

And someone else's trash is someone else's treasure!

Case in point, recently cops in New Englad throw out a desk with $35k in it. It's now buried under tons of debris. I'm sure someone is out there mining for it as we type.
