Can you opt to not have digital cable for a reduced rate, or is it only a package deal whether you take it or not. I'm partial to DirectTV, but if you get it in the HOA, it will be difficult to stick with it if you have to pay for it also (double the cost).

    Thanks,
    Chad

As far as we know, you cannot avoid paying the $150 Southern Walk HOA fee for basic OpenBand services, including basic cable. I believe that you can get DirecTV if you want to, but you still have to pay the basic OpenBand fee.

As a fellow (former) DirecTV fan, I feel your pain.

We have direct TV and yes still have to pay for Basic Cable provided by OpenBand through our HOA assessment. However, we have found that the cost of this HOA assessment + Direct TV is about $30 less per month then what we were paying for HOA assessment + OpenBand Premium Cable Services. So we get the same channels as before, better quality video, more HD offerings and are spending $30 less per month.

I would correct that to "Southern Walk living". Only 1/3 of Broadlands is stuck with Open Bandit.
