We checked breaker box and replaced GFI in basement. They still do not have power to them. Any ideas for next step much appreciated. Thank you!

    Mimi,

We had an issue with this. There were a couple things:
    1. The energy efficient bulbs didn't work in the lamp post
    2. The breaker was tripped to the outlet in our garage (like the actual outlet, not the breaker box)
    3. The sensor on the light post needed replacing

    Hope this helps!

There could be another GFI controlling those outlets. We have more than one and I had to try a couple to isolate the outside outlets. But one of my outside outlets went bad so I had to bypass and terminate.

The GFI for our lamp post is an electrical outlet plug in the basement.

Hi - we had this problem too and it turned out that it was a tripped GFI in a random outlet in our basement playroom (behind a bookcase). The outdoor lights seem to be attached to GFI outlets in random locations. Good luck!

Thank you all for the responses. I will share this with my husband tonight. I should have mentioned that we live in a parkdale SF home.

If you plan to use energy efficient bulbs , make sure it is outdoor rated. Most CFLs are not outdoor rated, but you will have better luck with LEDs. I have had LEDs outside for a couple of years now, two of them have been going strong, the third had to be replaced.
