    Hello,
We are planning on getting our walls painted and are interested in getting some referrals. And also, what would be the ball park estimate if one has to get all the walls painted (standard, nothing too fancy) for a typical SF home (2500 Sq. Ft). Please do let us know your positive and negative experiences (if any).

    Thank you for your input.

We had an excellent experience with Jeff Sellars of Merrifield Painting (703-915-3033). We hired him and his crew for a relatively small job -- a townhouse hallway and cathedral ceiling/stairwell that was just too hard to reach on our own. He charged us $750 -- which I thought was kind of outrageous at the time, but I was in a time crunch and couldn't shop around too much. It seems like everyone I know has been appalled at the prices when they haven't hired someone before.

He was recommended to us by a friend.

David Allen; Allen's Quality Painting 888-816-5315. Has been working in Ashburn for a long time. Painted the outside of my house, and did inside work. Has done many of my neighbors. I'll use him again.

Do these guys do a good job of sanding, caulking settlement cracks and spackling nail pops? I'm looking for someone to do our first floor and 2 story hall way (an I, too am wondering about cost).

Do NOT use Bryan's Painting (Leesburg). They took almost nine months, from the time we put down a deposit, to paint our house. Whipped up the paint in about 2 days. Some windows not painted etc. Sloppy workmanship. Have made numerous calls to him but none have been returned.[xx(]

How did the painting turn out? Does anyone have any new recommendations? I wouldn't even know what kind of prices to expect for a townhouse w/9ft ceilings everywhere. There are a couple rooms we'd do ourselves and no trim painting involved. Any ideas would be great.

    Thanks!

I can tell you who NOT to use. Jon Miller (he's advertised in the newspaper a lot) is terrible. They do decent work but we paid significantly more than what their estimate was to remove wallpaper and paint. Afterwards, I found out from my neighbor that he did that to them as well.

Hi, we have used a person by name Naum. He has given us a reasonable price when compared to other painters that we got a quote from and did a good job. He lives in Maryland and completed the work in 2 days. I got all of my first level, foyer, stairs and hallway upstairs, Master bedroom and bathroom walls painted for my SF home. If any of you are interested I can pass on his contact information and you are more than welcome to stop by at our place to check out his work.

    Thanks
    Kal

Our friend is fantastic. He has his own business and does all the work himself!

    M.E. Lewis Painting, L.L.C.
    Mark Lewis
    703-669-2388

He has painted our house as well as several neighbors. He is reliable, quick, and detailed oriented.

So I'd like a bit more information from people who have used the following painters:

    ME Lewis (Mark Lewis)

    Allen's Quality Painting (David Allen)

    CertaPro Painters (Gary Cobb)

Pros/Cons? Issues? I have quotes from all 3 and just wondered what people's experiences were.

Mark is fantastic. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Mark. Recently a client flew him out to the mid-west to paint their new home b/c of the professional and complete job that he did at the VA home.

Our neighbors across the street had him paint their entire foyer/living room. He also helped our neighbor rearrange their living room at the end of the day. Our best friends had him paint their brand new finished basement. He found mistakes done by the drywall guy and requested that the drywall come back and fix the errors. He painted our living room using the suede technique. In addition, he painted our foyer upstairs and downstairs, when he first started he noticed the color looked pink and pulled us in to make the change. He knew we weren't looking for a pinkish tone.

    Mark is outstanding.

Extremely happy with the work Dave Allen has done here. He and his crew are professionals that make sure you are happy with their work before they leave. They did a lot of the heavy moving for me, and moved it all back after they got done. I found their rates to be very reasonable, and will go with them for outside work later this year.

The only downside was the fact that I had to wait a bit, they are extremely busy.

What does something like the suede cost to put in your living room? I am curious to know cost because I may want to hire him to do something like that but am not sure if the cost is even in my ballpark.

We've used Kris' Painting Service, and we're very happy with the results.

He's local, he advertises in the Broadlands Newsletter, and he's done work for the HOA which has turned out very well.

    Very reasonable on price too.

Dave Allen painted our exterior trim, porch and porch ceiling. He also stained the deck and kids' playset. They did an excellent job. He was running a few days later than promised due to the weather and he called daily to let me know what was happening. I had 3 estimates done and his prices were lowest.

I wouldn't use CertaPro because of their practice of advertising in public roadways. Fight Road Spam! By the way, anyone see the huge billboard pasted on Belmont Ridge for the Steakhouse? Looks like something belong on 95 for South of the Border. (Appologize ahead of time for the hijack, doesn't warrant it's own thread, just venting)

I echo this! Mark was just at my house Monday and Tuesday of this week, painting my master bath and bedroom. He did my family room, kitchen, powder room and laundry room a couple weeks ago. He's professional, on time, cleans up after himself, sanded everything, and repaired nailpops. His price is VERY reasonable. Here's his website: http://www.melewispainting.com/

You're welcome to come by if you want to take a look. Email me and let me know.

Regarding the question about pricing on suede... you would have to contact Mark directly, it depends on the size of the room, the type of suede you pick, the number of walls you are doing, etc. I do know the paint is pricey.
