Also from the Patriot website, their full 2012 Holiday Schedule:

    http://www.patriotdisposalservices.com/Holiday_Schedule.doc

    Holiday Schedule 2012

    Thanksgiving
Thursday customers – no service on Thanksgiving Day; instead will be picking up trash and recycling on Saturday, November 24th.

    Christmas
No service at all on Tuesday, December 25th; recycling-only pickup on Wednesday, December 26th for those customers who usually have recycling pickup on Tuesdays.

    New Year's Day
No service at all on Tuesday, January 1st; recycling-only pickup on Wednesday, January 2nd for those customers who usually have recycling pickup on Tuesdays.

    Christmas Tree Pickup
Christmas trees will be picked up and recycled on the first two Mondays in January for Loudoun County and Fairfax County customers. Trees must be bare (and not contained in a plastic bag or wrapped in plastic) to be picked up for tree recycling. Wreaths cannot be picked up for recycling due to the wiring; no artificial trees will be picked up for recycling. After the first two Mondays, trees will be put in the trash. Prince William County customers can put their trees out at the curb on either pickup day, for disposal.

They said trash on their website, but when I asked I was told recyclables only.

Am I looking in the wrong location for info on trash pickup on a holiday? Last night I found this on the main HOA website menu: "Patriot Disposal will provide services on all holidays that fall on regularly-scheduled pickup days with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day." I put my trash out today but no Patriot.

The information you found was correct. What most folks fail to realize is that on holidays, there tends to be a lot less trash set out for pickup, so the trucks end up coming by much earlier than usual since there is less trash on their route and they make less stops. My guess is that you put your trash out after they had already been by. I would suggest that if possible, put your trash out the night before a holiday pickup so that if they do come by much earlier, your trash will already be at the curb. Patriot came by our street much earlier than they normally do this morning.

Ditto what Mr. Linux wrote. Our trash was picked up around 9am which is much earlier than usual. Several neighbors put out their trash after the truck made its pass and probably believe that Patriot never showed up.

Or do what a neighbor of mine does and just leave your cans at the street. I guess that way you never miss a pick-up.
