    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has used any professional pet-sitting services in Broadlands? I was searching for some local companies on the web and came across several, including "Woofie's" and "Around Midnight." If anyone has had experiences with those companies or with others, please tell me about them.

    Thanks,
    Laura

If you search the forums you will find where the topic has been discussed before which might give you some ideas. I personally use Woofies and have since 2004. They have been awesome and go above and beyond in my opinion.

We've used Woofies for about a year and love them. Our dog is very cautious, but after a day or so, she was coming to greet the walker at the door, which is amazing for her. The service was awesome. They leave a note about what they did with our dog every time they stop by. The price is very reasonable and the service can't be beat.

We've been using Pitter-Pat for the last 5 months or so and have been really happy with them. Here's their website: http://www.pitter-pat.com/

We're Woofies clients and agree with all of the above about their service.

Thanks for all your recommendations so far! :)

I searched for the prior pet sitter threads but couldn't find them.

I am a dog lover too but I have only two cats. ;-) Thanks anyway for suggesting your friend.

We Ashburnians have a lot of "furkids," don't we? :)

I had a special needs cat and was comforted to know I could hire a VET Technician to care for him. The Technician appreciated the extra work as she was in school and I had peace of mind knowing she would be extra perceptive to any changes in his health - so you might check with your local Vet as well.

Forgot one caveat...she showed up in her hospital uniform which brought all the hospital and pet odors along with it, so I had to ask her to change her clothes before coming to the house.

Cats are pretty self-sufficient if you'll only be gone for a few days. Any more than that and I usually have a neighbor check in on mine once or twice a day to make sure nothing drastic happened.

Our cats are self-sufficient to a point but the litter boxes, unfortunately, are not. The felines are fed twice a day otherwise one would bogart all the food. Emotionally they have each other for companionship as they do get lonely and when mine are left for extended periods of time get into mischief or horseplay. Our past sitters always did nice little extras too such as watering the plants, picking up the mail, putting the garbage out, and opening and closing the blinds.

I usually board my now old dog with our vet but they are already booked. I have seen several recommendations for kennels and sitting services, because he is old I am thinking the sitting service might be easier on him. I have never used one before and looking at the sites I don't think we need overnight but was wondering how ofter pet owners have the sitters come to your house. Will 2-3 times a day be enough and does anyone recommend any service other than woofies. Thanks

i can't recommend anyone but woofies! they've come 3 times a day for Beemer when we've been away, the last visit at night and the first early in the morning, and we come home to a happy well exercised pooch. the confidence I have leaving my 4 legged son in woofies hands is irreplaceable- i wouldn't change a thing about deciding to use them every time we can't be there with Beemer. YAY WOOFIES!

and NO- they don't pay me- I am truly a FAN.
