Dixie is right....please stop referring everything to Wes, especially things that the HOA has no enforcement over. He's busy enough. If you feel the HOA has some say in this, find out yourself and post the response.

Dixie: I find this fascinating! More information, this is like Jerry Springer in sweet home ashburn!

Those neighbors of yours are jerks. I'm so glad our old neighbors moved out. They never even waved hello when we did. Kinda small potatoes compared tp your drama. Our New neighbors are sooo friendly thank god.

When i was house searching there was this gorgeous house in Lansdowne. I couldnt figure out why it wasnt selling. Agent said it was on a pipestem. I now understand why people might be hesitant to buy houses on a pipestem!

That's great Latka, fan the flames a little more. The forums are already getting more and more like Jerry Springer as Thu mentioned. Neil Z has given sound advice. On this and many other posts on this forum. Why would you and Vacliff escalate this?

I think the best advice currently is to consult a lawyer.

Just to play devil’s advocate here let me get a few things straight. When he makes mention of the dog waste is this waste produced by your dog and left on his property? Secondly. You mentioned getting an invisible fence. Is this because you currently allow your dog to roam unleashed?
Oh and BTW the part about Starbucks and Lattes adds a real Ashburn Yuppie flair to this tale. Toss in a BMW and overpriced pre-school for a gifted child and you’ve pretty much covered all the bases.
Anyone who lives on a pipestem or common driveway and doesn’t have problems should be considered for sainthood. I know it would drive me nuts and I’m an easygoing guy. As the saying goes “Good fences make good neighbors”
I make this post in lighthearted fun but I know what a pain in the patootie this situation must be for you and wish you all the best in some type of civil resolution with your neighbor.

Actually, my problem was not with Neil.....I thought Cliff, a fellow Board member should have taken this up with Neil privatly and was only trying to point out how very public it was.

    Thanks all ...

In any case, my referral to Wes was due to the fact that he has had courses in HOA management, and may have some advice on what Dixie can do. The HOA really can't do anything but point out if the area is not being maintained properly.

I have to admit the more Dixie posts the more I want to hear the other side of the story. Not everyone is a dog lover and having dog pee & poop all over the common area around your house isn't always an agreeable thing.

I like animals as well as the next person, but I have to agree do we have to let them poop and piss all over the common areas, what is wrong with your backyard or dog parks should be in all areas.

I hate to say this but I don't love your animals as much as the owner does. I live next to a common area and do these people just use the common area nope some have to let their animals run into my yard and then walk off in a huff when I say something. There are also leash laws.

The common areas are not one great big bathroom. Whats the old story one bear Sh*ts in the the same spot in the creek well that is not too bad,but get a hundred bears sh*ting in the same spot in the creek everyday, well you get the picture. I think many people walk their animals for the social attention more then for the sake of walking the dog.

I would like to hear the other side of this story also.

I have to disagree with you there Lee.

Generally the common areas are where the HOA have put up the doggie bags. When I walk my dog I make sure that he does not do his thing in anyones yards. I make him wait until we get to the common area where there are bags to pick up any thing that may occur.

I generally walk my dog for an hour each day (completely for his benefit cause I would much rather be relaxing after work) and in that time he can go number one 4 or 5 times and number two 2 or 3 times. I also carry bags with me should an emergency come up and he really has to go. These are animals we are talking about. No matter how well trained sometimes they go where you don't want them to. Just the nature of the beast.

I don't spank anyone, especially in public. My point is that we have a very lean HOA staff and they need to spend their time working on HOA business, not personal disputes. Note that Dixie did the "spanking", I just agreed.

No, I don't think that's a good solution. I don't want carpet cleaning chemicals on common ground, either. ;) I know it's not against the rules for dogs to pee wherever their owner takes them. Ideally, I guess I'd like for dogs to do their business in their own yards but I know that's not practical or in their nature.

What I really dislike is when a dog owner uses the same small area everyday for their dog's to go to the bathroom. To me, that area is no longer a common use area but instead has become a dog toilet.

Dogs are creatures of habit. If they start peeing or pooping in one area on the walk they will continue to do that. Again nature of the beast.

I care because I have kids that like to play football and tag in the common area at the end of the street. I also have a crawling baby that likes to play in the grass while the other neighborhood toddlers & preschoolers run around together in that area.

I'm not saying it should be forbidden for dogs to use those areas, I'm just commenting that it's a little gross when the neighbors use that area, and only that area, day in and day out for their dogs to eliminate in.
