    I don't know what the speed limit is in that housing area with through streets but it should be ten-fifteen mph especially if cars are allowed to park along the curb. My childhood friend Travis (age 7) was hit by a car going 10 mph over the 15mph speed limit. Fortunately, he only suffered a broken collar bone, fractured ankle and broken blood vessels. The driver was pregnant and I hope she was permanently traumatized by this. So slow down...it only takes a second for a child to dart into the road chasing a ball or just being a child, supervised or not.

    What cracks me up is in the over-55 neighborhood off Marblehead in Ashburn Village are speed limit signs that read "9 MPH". Sometimes the elderly have trouble hearing when cars are coming and don't move their hockey game out of the way.
