I used wacker in the past and they were good. I thought I'd try FH Furr. I called them last week to schedule an appt for Sat. Come Sat no one showed up. Today I called them and they could not find my contact info and then asked if I could hold which I did for about 5 mins before I hung up. Going back to Wacker.

A foul odor coming from the master bathroom/kids' bathroom sinks when the water is turned on. They said it's because of residue build-up from toothpaste and the like. I'm starting to think, though, that's it's the design of the faucets keeping bacteria trapped in the pipes because NEVER in my life have I encountered something like this AND the sinks are cleaned weekly. I shouldn't have to dismantle my entire faucet system under the sink to make sure it doesn't smell.

Is it a rotten egg smell? We have that too, but only from my husband's sink. What did they tell you to do?

BTW FH FURR completed our basement bath project and we were very happy with them. They gave us the best quote of several that we got.

Yep...rotten egg/sulphur like smell. They said it's bacteria trapped in the stopper area. If you take the stopper and silver lining thing out, you'll see some holes in the piping. That's where the build-up is. They said to take the stopper out (by dismantling it from underneath the sink), take the silver plate thing out, clean out that area (use a pipe cleaner of some sort....or stick a glove on your hand and clean it out that way), then pour some bleach in there and let it sit. Rinse it out and replace stopper and all the other parts. Apparently though, it's very hard to replace the other parts. FH Furr charges more to just replace the sink parts for that job than they do to clean and replace parts for the same job. (They quoted us $600 for clean/replace parts in three sinks).

Called F H Furr for estimate on shower plan replacement and their recommendation was basically to do the MBR shower all other including new tile, new fixtures, etc.... Needless to say the estimate for a shower pan replacement turned into an $8k remodeling of the MBR shower. So F H Furr will never be called again to enter the house what a joke, I guess they figure everybody in Cashburn is suffering from affluenza

Sorry this came in later for couple of you out there....

Solution for rotten smelly drains in shower, facet, etc... We had this issue and we thought the foul smell was coming from the water so we had called LCSA and they asked us to pour little amount of Clorox bleach down the drain once a month to kill the bacteria that is causing the bad odour and since then we never had this problem.

    Hope this helps.
