yes, Juniper. We havent been in two years.
A woman I ice skate with has a friend that lives on that street.
They are the house with the "boat theme".
(My friend lives in Hamilton and they dont do that sort of thing where she lives.)
I do love the idea that they collect nonperishables for Loudoun Interfaith

I highly recommend driving by the light display in a neighborhood in Reston. There is a house located off of Reston Parkway before the intersection with Route 7. I do not know the street but you can see the house and the amazing light display from Reston Parkway. If you are on Reston Parkway and headed towards route 7, this street would be on the right hand side. I have NEVER seen such a display in my life. This is a very large home with probably at least 8 picture windows and there is a full lit xmas tree in each window. The entire house has been illuminated with lights and all the trees in the yard are decorated as well.

I would welcome the comments of anyone else who has seen this display. I think the homeowners had to have a company set up all the lights and effects they have. I cannot envision anyone doing this on their own.

I strongly recommend to the men of the Broadlands that you take your wives and children to see THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. Don't listen to the baloney of the liberal media about there being too much blood and violence for women and kids. I took them all out to see it last night, and it was truly educational. In fact, it was the first movie ever that my two youngest had ever seen.

Showtimes at the Regal Countryside today are:

    11:10 am, 12:00 pm, 1:20 pm, 2:40 pm, 3:30 pm, 4:50 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:20 pm, 9:30 pm, 10:10 pm

With America in such a deplorable moral state (that is getting worse by the moment if you watch the news about what is going on in San Francisco), the men of the Broadlands should all support a good movie that teaches good morals. This should strengthen the future for families in the Broadlands and the country.

Well said. I have four children and the intent is for all of us, as a Family to experience this together. Just waiting for the hoopla to die down a bit so we don't have to face such massive crowds.

Such a typically intolerant comment from you, bee. You assume that everyone is a Christian or should be. I don't see how a movie like this strengthens values at all. Not everyone has your belief system you know. I bet, to your horror, that there are plenty of Jews, Hindus, Muslims, and (gasp!) atheists living here.

Where did that come from Homer? Wow. Maybe he was only addressing people interested in the movie? You dont have to go see the movie if you dont want to, neither do any of the other folks (christian or not). However, I do agree with you on "how does it strengthen values". There are many things that can strengthen family values, but this is just a movie which is a single man's interpretation of a book - doesnt necessarily strengthen anyones values. Im christian and dont care to see the movie. I think I can read my book and get more out of it than seeing the movie.
Also, I dont think the "men of Broadlands" are the only ones that can take their families to the movies [8D]. I think women and young adults can do that as well. But I do agree w/Bee in that America's moral values are very poor. Im very sad to see what is allowed these days in the public eye as acceptable behavior......[V]

I got this from Killerbees history of posts. There is a record of anti-gay, anti non christian remarks over the year. Killerbee give folks like you who are tolerant and Christian a bad rep. I don't care about the movie. I probably will see it, as entertainment and not as dogma.

I have been away for awhile, and something told me to check the HOA site today. Boy, it's a great big slap in the face to walk back into wonton misogyny and bigotry! Killerbee, I love right-wing fundamentalist -- i.e. Republicans -- like you who think that women need to be "told" what to watch. ..and what's going on in SF that you don't like now?

I agree with you, dwarf, about men not being the only ones who can choose when or when not to see a movie. While the Judeo-Christian Bible is quite clear that women and kids are just "property" and nothing more, I do hope that our society could be more tolerant than it was 2 millenia ago.

    Got any examples?

I was going to respond to this earlier but some servers took a nose dive so here I am late.

I am a christian but I believe in the 11th commandment set forth by Brother Carlin:

Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyslef.

Pushing your religions and beliefs on people are how wars get started, check out your history books. And I agree with everyone else...since when is it the man's responsibility select the movie that the family is going to see? Can we please get out of the middle ages here?

Yep, an easy one: Adultery. Unfortunately society accepts this type of behavior(or rather, looks the other way, or views it as "status quo"), when this exact type of behavior can destroy families. This is sad. There's more examples, but I think one should suffice....

brim -- I'm glad that you were as offended at the misogyny as I was. People who think that women are too ignorant to choose a movie are just impossible! To believe that women are simply "property" to be commanded about is totally offensive, but that's what the "good book" says. I am sure that this viewpoint is more widely held that polite society cares to think. The depths of the religious fanatacism of the ultra-right wingers in this country are scary.

dwarf -- I don't think that you will get too many arguments about adultery being sad.

I really liked Billy Crystals zinger last night at the Oscars. :) He said the first time he hosted the Oscars 13 years ago: "Bush was in office, we were at war with Iraq, and the economy was tanking";) I wonder if George W will suffer the same fate as his Dad at the election[?]

kholbert -- i think that dubya will lose the election just like he did in 2000 and like his "deddy" did in 1992 if our country has any sense whatsoever. maybe dubya will come out with a constitutional amendment to say that women are property and should be voteless to protect against that.

I also thought it was funny when Billy Crystal said Deans favorite movie was "Anger Management" and that Sadams movie was "Holes". LOL.

I'd agree with both of those recommendations!
