Pools closed again - June 9 - Vandalism Again!

We were told the Summerbrooke pool is closed until 4 PM for the same vandalism as yesterday. Southernwalk said they may have something in their pool too. Not positive if it will open.

Something needs to be done about the vandalism...

All 3 pools were hit again last night.
Summerbrooke pool will open 4pm today
Community center and Southernwalk will open at 5pm

I am sorry for all the delays opening. We are in the process of reporting this to the police again and I am hoping we can figure out some way of stopping this before it happens again.

I wqill report back with any updates if I have any

Unbelievable!! I'm not usually in favor of increasing our HOA fees, but here's my vote for hiring security patrols and getting some security cameras/concertina wire/etc. to limit this stuff. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know if any of the other HOA's have had this kind of problem?

This is ridiculous. Seriously, the most effective and inexpensive approach is some razor wire. I don't care what it looks like. People want to act like inmates we'll have to make it look like prison.

I'm with you, Steve. Happy to pay whatever it takes to stop this garbage. (And secretly voting for quietly installing some cameras so that the scum who are doing this are videotaped, caught, and prosecuted.)

Well it seems to me the kids are monitoring this web forum and getting a kick at how they are disrupting everyones fun.

Hidden cameras will catch them, only if they are put up secretly and soon and the kids don't find and destroy them. It is a shame we must video everything in public including red light runners and soon speeders are going to be getting surprises in the mail in some parts of the country and world.

Cameras have been very effective on construction sites not only for crime but home owners that let their kids run rampant on dangerous construction sites as well as catching curiosity seekers trying to be nosey looking at what their future neighbors are building. It is surprising some of the things you see when people don't know they are being video taped.

It is a shame we must video tape the world to make it a safer place, but my criminal Lawyer brother says video works wonders in court for the DA and proving sometimes other people have committed the crime not always the ones arrested although that is rare police get the wrong person.

Well, we were one of the families today who got the kids and ourselves suited up, sunscreen on and drove to all 3 pools only to find out they were closed. We didn't know this happened yesterday as well. Incredible that they could do this 2 days in a row. How does a group of kids save up their poop all day so they can go in the pool at night? My spouse noted that in his day, if they would have such a situation as a non-secure pool, they would have just quietly snuck in for a night swim and get drunk and this could have gone on for weeks or months if they were quiet enough about it.
I briefly worked in the mental health dept. of a juvenile detention center. The kids who defacated in their cells and then used it to deface property were not just criminals, there was serious mental illness going on there, the most extreme kind of antisocial personalities.
Another irony: according to pool rules we have to put 3 layers (swim diaper, rubber pants and bathing suit) on kids who aren't potty trained, but kids who are can easily access the pool at night and use it as their personal toilet and trash can.
Kudos to the pool staff for working hard to get this cleaned up and to the HOA folks for addressing the bigger problem of lack of security.

Good point Steve. Cameras may not even be effective if some of these perps have good arms.

We were suited up, lotion on and showed up at the pool as well. It's tough explaining to a 2 and 4 year old that they can't go to any of the pools because of something like this. I guess it's a sprinkler day...

Sounds like it's dog waste, not human, probably being thrown over the fence. This is getting serious and expensive enough to call in the sheriff to have the place staked out. And when these idiots are caught, they and their parents should bear the entire cost of the clean-up and do about 250 hours of community service.

Count me as one who not only took a vacation day yesterday to take his 4 year old to the pool, but as one who got her all lotioned up again today only to find out the pools were closed again.

I know it's probably not realistic and will never happen, but whatever it takes, I want these kids prosecuted. All parents should be asking their kids if they have heard of anything. Somebody somewhere probably knows about this.

I would give anything to have a few minutes alone with these punks myself. They did this to the Community, me, and my family. I have never been this disgusted and ticked off at the same time.

While I understand that there is not much that can be done after an incidient has occured that will close the pool. And I completely agree that something in the way of security, needs to be done to prevent this from happening again.

However, I recommend that you don't allow the lifeguards to "lay-out" while the pools are closed, working on their tan and listening to their ipod. It sends the wrong message, and has the appearance that the issue isn't something to be taking serious enough to close the pool in the first place. And it's really tough to explain to the little ones, why "they're" at the pool and it's closed to the remaining public.

We vote for razor or barb wire too. Too bad but it is a good start to help protect our pools.
Such a shame.
Anyone want to do an all nighter to see if we can spot kids tonight?

I actually thought of that too Kahlua, but I need to get on a 6am flight in the morning, which is why I was hoping to spend the day at the pool with my Daughter.
