We purchased our home about a year ago and have noticed that it needs to be pressure washed quite badly. I would prefer to simply hire someone and have it professionally done. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dominion is also in the newsletter with the same $50 off coupon along with 2 others depending on what you are doing. Page 10 of the July issue.

We haven't contacted Dominion yet because we had a good referral to Elite.

However, after much frustration, I can say- DON'T use Elite. We had the work scheduled three separate times for someone to come out to the house- and no one ever showed up. This last time they didn't even have our appointment documented. Don't bother to waste your time.

Be careful if you use Dominion Powerwash - they pulled a bait and switch on me. I contracted them to powerwash/seal my deck, porch, and play yard. On delivery, they refused to seal the vertical rails of my deck and claimed that they never agreed to seal my play yard (even though this was clearly in writing on their estimate). After several inane arguments with the owner, they took 3+ weeks to come out and begrudgingly seal my play yard. Told me it would cost extra to seal the deck rails - I wasn't about to give them any more business so I sent them on their way.

The workers did a good job on the work they performed, but the owner is not to be trusted. I'd recommend you find other, more scrupulous contractors with whom to work.

The guy from Dominion came to my home. We talked about sealing vs. powerwashing and he insisted it was not necessary to seal a fence, only a deck. His argument was vertical surfaces don't need to be sealed, dunno if that's true, but I haven't heard it anywhere else. I'm really no expert on the matter but I knew the builder recommendation was to seal the fence every two years. He finally agreed he would seal the fence at "no extra charge" (along with the powerwashing) even though the sealant was "very expensive". He wrote up an estimate (which I think was $50 higher than the verbal quote he gave me before adding in the 'free' sealing) and had me sign it. Then he called me a day or two later to schedule when to start. When I told him I hadn't decided who to go with yet, he got upset, claiming we had a "contract" and didn't understand why I was backing out of it. After explaining to him that an estimate is not a contract, I went with someone else.

Wow! I've used dominion twice now with no issues. Vincenzo can be pretty intense but I always felt the he was fair and did high quality work. Full disclosure, he was an asdvertiser of mine, but not until after he had satisfactorily done our deck.

    Redon,

I know, I've seen you recommend him before. :) Honestly since I never actually hired him I don't know how his work is -- it could be spectacular for all I know. I just know my initial dealing with him seemed off (and maybe I was wrong about the $50 difference -- I could have remembered wrong, although I am usually pretty good at remembering pricing), so I went with my gut.

I have no doubt you are right on pricing! He was more expensive than other estimates but we went with him anyway because we felt more confident in their presentation and expertise than the others. I feel it was worth the higher price, our deck still looks great 2 yras later, I think it's a been 2 yrs... but your gut is usually right so... not a fit for you! Worked for us though. :)
