Not pointing to anyone in particular.....obviously not you since you only have 9 posts.
One point that does refer to your comments........don't write a place off after one bad visit right after they open.

Born and raised in New Jersey and on my way to give them a try. I have been looking for good pizza for a long time. I'll report back on how authentic I feel it is.

It doesnt take that long to eat a sice of pizza, but it did take that long to finish the other stuff I had to do.

I will say that the place gets 2 thumbs up on the pizza. Thin crust, nice sized slices, crisp on the bottom but not crispy all the way through like a cracker, and a nice portion of grease left on the plate.

Since i did spend some of my teens in the philly area I will be back to check out the CheeseSteaks at Sal's.

please let me know on the CheeseSteak if you have one before I do. Pats was one of my favorites and Big John's on the Jersey side in Cherry Hill was the best. I played for his Little League team just for the "victory" parties!!

Yep like I always have said it takes a Jersey or NYC boy to understand and appreciate great pizza. :)

I know the minute I took my first bite this is excellent NYC pizza. :) Thank god I don't have to go to rays anymore to get my pizza fix:D

    To our customers and friends,
This comment is addressed to each individual customer who visited with us this week and gave us support as we start our new venture. It is not addressed to “a line of people out the door and around the turn of our entrance.” This is a family owned and operated business with a family history of more than 40 years. Our mission is to treat each customer as if they are the “only” customer at the counter. It would be rude and inappropriate to ask a customer to “step aside” without making an effort to answer their questions regarding this new menu. We take one customer at a time! It’s about home-made specialty items and hand tossed pies. It’s about giving our customers personalized service, understanding their needs and satisfying their requests. Giving our customers time to get to know us and what we have to offer. It’s about providing samples to our customers while you wait one on one with a warm welcome to our “home away from home.” It’s NOT about running a “factory like” pizzeria with pies made & frozen in advanced from pre-made dough and products that are stacked on trays in the back and running conveyor belts to process pizza. It’s “NOT about putting leftovers out on a tray near the register for samples. Everything is made fresh to order SO if you like your crust thin and crisp, please feel free to order it that way. If you like it a little thicker crust with extra sauce or cheese… we can do that too. It’s all about you as an individual. It’s NOT about serving as many customers as possible in the shortest amount of time to make the most money. We are not your typical “fast food” restaurant. Unfortunately in this day and age, people are settling for that type of service. We have no intention of participating in such a situation. If we did, we would not have gotten to meet all of you this week, we would not know our employees on an individual basis, and we would not be able to prepare our food fresh. We would just be at the bank day and night! That is far from our mission. So we ask that when you plan to visit us, leave ample amount of time to place your order, receive your meal and of course RELAX and enjoy the wonderful food whether your dining in or carrying out!

This is a short summary of our “Grand Opening” week and response to some of your comments. Thanks for all the wonderful support this week. We survived the “Grand Opening” with a very unexpected overwhelming but well appreciated response from the community and from our visitors from the surrounding counties. We have had many satisfied customers who felt that our products were well worth the wait. There are some of you who are disappointed in the wait time. FYI we are working the kinks out and will have a designated area window for carry-out orders. It’s just a matter of logistics. We are anxiously waiting for a “Point of Sales” system that will facilitate accuracy of orders, inventory and time saving measures. We don’t think a “Grand Opening” week is an accurate time to judge waiting time or service. We appreciate all your comments so keep them coming. It’s all about you! We will continue to do our very best to serve this community and all our customers at all times.
    Sincerely,
    Doreen, Sal & Family

Sal, let me just say - from my own opinion - that was a great response and really appreciated. If you serve great quality food and strive to provide the best service possible... then you are doing it right. Listening to comments and suggestions is the right thing to do and as long as you do not lose sight of what you feel is your mission and dream accommodating them - great! That is what it should be about. I think most people in this community will see that and reward you with years of loyal service. I (and I think several others) had a pizza place back home in NJ just like that, where I would order, walk in and talk to the owner about what was new that week... you became part of their extended Italian family the moment you walked through the door... great to see Sal and I (we) will be in soon to try pizza and a cheesesteak!

We went last night for a pizza and were very impressed. Pizza was definitely one of the best we've had in the area and we are looking forward to making it our "regular" pizza joint.

    Re: Rave for Sal's Pizza...not

I was very disappointed being from NYC and having eaten more than my share of true NY pie. The pie I ordered was veggie and it was more like a green pepper pizza. When we opened it in our office we all said.."oh....that's a lot of green pepper". When we called to give that feedback the person who answered the phone seemed unconcerned and just said "oh" when we told him about the pizza. I didn't like it, wouldn't order it again, and wouldn't recommend it. Manhatten Pizza really has my vote!

In response to your experience, I would suggest that any unsatisfied customer would speak to the Owner or Manager of the restaurant regarding your concern, as I myself have done on occasion. This is where you will be able to be compensated and also where we can approach performance improvement to better service future customers. If we do not know about it, there is not much we can do about it. Please remember, we are here to provide a quality product with a personalized touch. Considering this is now after the fact, we would love for you to come for a visit or give us a call and give us the opportunity to satisfy your needs. We appreciate your business and your feedback.

    Sincerely,
    Doreen, Sal & Family

I'm an Italian from NJ and have eaten plenty of NY and NJ pizza in my day.

First of all, Sal, let me say you are a good man to read through all of the comments and address folks politely and professionally.

I have heard it about a million times: it's the water that makes the bagels, pizza, and all the bread in NY so darn good. Just ask anyone behind the counter at H&H Bagels or Zabars. Sal's is the best pizza I've had in Northern Virginia. I used to live near Ciro's in Centreville, which was pretty decent. Sal combines the perfect combination of cheese, sauce and dough to make the best pie out there.

I will never order from Manhattan Pizza again. The folks there don't know how to roll dough. Every pizza I've eaten has been paper-thin in the center, making the toppings slide off. Plus, the management and staff are unprofessional, take over an hour to deliver a pie, and are horribly rude.

I think all the comments about the pizza samples on the counter are hillarious. You would get laughed out of any NY pizza joint for that one.

Keep up the great work Sal!

LORD! All the comments about whether it is or isn't.

If it tastes good to you then eat it! If it doesn't then try somewhere else.

    EVERYONE tastes differ!
