Tax everyone! Not just a specific group.

I am tired of "our" group having to bear the burden ALL of the time.

And, cut the specific group tax breaks (home mortgage and dependents)?

As for the burden, it is squarely on the future generations right now. I'd like love to see either taxes going up or spending comng down (stop the bailouts). We've been in a war for five years with the majority of the nation not burdened financially and coming no where even close to the hard ship of those serving. Maybe we can all come together to experience a recession.

This is EASY! Cut spending. Cut spending. Cut spending. How can anyone possibly justify having a $3.1 trillion budget?!

Eliminate entire departments. Eliminate outdated subsidies for businesses and individuals. Simply put a freeze on everything. We all do it with our families, why not demand it of our government.

And cut taxes on the producers in society and small businesses. This ALWAYS spurs GROWTH in federal revenues. It is not political, it is an economic truth. Kennedy cut taxes and the economy grew. Ditto Reagan, etc.

They will raise taxes on the producers and then wonder where the jobs have gone.

The current administration and a same-crap, different-day McCain administration want to tax the crap out of the poor, middle class, and upper class just to finance 10,000 years of occupation in the Middle East. Why is that a good reason to tax us to death?

    Bingo!

Higher taxes encourages higher government spending, among other things.

We can have a reasonable outlay, and still meet all things critical to our national interests.

Uhhh...the current administration, via tax cuts, lowered the burden on all taxpayers.

    Seen on roadside:

Elect John McCain - He'll tax the crap out of the poor!

Gotta admit, that's one damn unique campaign platform...

ok- like I always say with your doom and gloom comments- we will wait in 10 years and see what happens to this area then.

Population growth in DC area=more homes in Loudoun, simple as that. Facts are facts and loudoun will continue to grow.

The poor don't pay taxes to begin with. That's why this class warfare rhetoric (um, exactly like the Soviets used after WWII to establish communist/socialist rule in Europe...just history, read about it) foisted on the public by liberal politicians is so hideous.

By definition, the only people who really can benefit from tax cuts are the rich, because they pay a disproportionate share of the tax burden in this country in the first place. And, by the way, it is THEIR money, not yours, not mine, not anyone else's and certainly not the government's.

    Exactly, Silence.

But in a normal election, Democrats inevitably accuse Republicans of promoting tax cuts that benefit primarily the rich, and the slogan "The rich got richer while the poor got poorer" is something that no election can go without.

If I don't buy milk often, I'm not going to see much benefit if there's a decrease in the price of milk.

Likewise, if I don't pay much in taxes, I'm not going to see much benefit if there's a decrease in taxes. That doesn't mean a decrease in the price of milk or a tax cut is a bad thing, it simply means it will only effect those people that buy milk or pay taxes.

Saying that "a tax cut favors the rich" is either based on ignorance (given that you can only give a tax cut to someone that pays taxes, and that the "rich" are really the only ones that pay taxes in any substantial manner) or is disingenous (because the person knows this to be true, but makes the accusation anyway).

The statement "a tax cut favors the rich" should be reworded "a tax cut favors those that pay taxes."

Unfortunately, those that state "tax cuts favor the rich" are usually hoping for those class warefare undertones, so hoping for them to use the more accurate and less divisive words is probably utopian.

So, a 10,000 year occupation of the Middle East will be free? The good Lord gave people brains enough to know that's BS and that we'll all have to pay HEAPS of taxes!!!

I never indicated it would be free. Our "occupation" of Korea hasn't been free, nor Germany, so why would Iraq be any different?

So, we'll be taxed to pay for it since McCain wants to be there for 10,000 years. However, Obama and Hilary want us out. So, a vote for Obama or Hilary is a vote for lower taxes since, if they win, we will not need to pay for 10,000 years of Middle East occupation.

Now there's moveon.org logic if I have ever heard it.

Both Obama and Hillary will raise taxes regardless of the length of our involvement in Iraq. They have both publicly stated this.

No - he said he was willing to be there as long as it took to achieve the desired goals. You can always gravitate to specific words rather then the context of the discussion to spin anything you want.
