Been going to Bonefish here in Broadlands since opening day... but I feel like I need to ask about people's recent experiences. I do not want to feel like I am getting picky in my old age...but the drop in quality and frequency in mistakes has seemed to be a recurring problem.

I frequently get orders to-go and it just sucks to get home and open your bread only to find there is no pesto sauce. the house salads/entrees seems skimpy and I have been over/incorrectly charged on several recent visits.

My order has been messed up more than not and the staff that I have had to deal with seem lacking in basic knowledge of the menu and specials. Twice I have had to drive back to the restaurant for corrections recently.

Just curious is any of this sounds familiar or maybe I am having a string of bad experiences. But I have been going long enough sine it's opening in 2004/2005 to know the difference... Anybody else?

Went to Bonefish last night. Was overcharged for 2 items on the menu and it took 3 tries to get the bill right. We paid with a gift card and cash to pay the total bill and they didn't take into account the cash and presented us with another bill for the amount owed over the gift card. When we reminded the waitress we left cash to pay the remainder she suddenly remembered we had left cash and apologized. Even then she brought the wrong amount back. I don't know if she was new or lacking math skills. Also we had asked for whipped potatoes instead of risotto and the waitress said it was ok but then they billed us for the substitution without her telling us there would be a charge. After asking about it she did agree to remove the substitution charge.

Yeah that is consistent with other experiences we had too. The staff knowledge is not what it used to be under previous management. Part of what made that place special for us has been lost...just another restaurant among so many others.

Agree with the above comments - seems to be happening more these days - incorrect items or incorrect prices. The staff is a mixed bag when it comes to attentiveness. To be fair, the manager was apologetic and able to fix.

Yea when faced with concerns directly, management was responsive. Most of the time, when issues and questions were raised...and the staff disappeared to clarify or get direction, the responses were different. Just feels like there is a desire to resist every penny that is at stake. So I guess it is just not me... Instead of a positive experience, I now focus on the amount of mistakes the front desk makes between taking my order, creating my bill and then debating the finer points of the menu and specials since I know far more than the staff... just silly.

How strange that you would continue to patronize Bonefish when you're so disappointed in their service. Even worse, is that they fail to recognize that you have been a customer since they opened. If they can not get it right - take your business somewhere else and tell the management so they take you seriously. If they have issues up front - what's going on behind the scenes?

We go there and get food there because we like it... and have recently questioned if we still should, because of what has been happening more recently. That is the whole point to the post, to see if I am over-reacting or if others have experienced similar issues recently as well. I have mentioned my long term patronage before when it was needed since I wanted to make my concerns seem more legitimate (to support the fact I know what I am talking about). I would not go through this exercise unless I felt it mattered since we like the place...

I have spoken to management a few times recently... hoping for improvements but not happening so far.

We went 2 weeks ago and had a lovely meal with no issues.

We went last night, typically are there about twice a month. I've seen some of the issues you've referenced recently - have to admit those types of things don't usually bother me too much - I just check the receipt and my order before leaving if I have carry out. But last night was a train wreck. My order was wrong, the waiter was MIA when needed, a drink I ordered never came, the menu description of one item was incorrect, etc. At the end of the meal when I told the waiter to disregard the drink I'd ordered twenty minutes earlier, rather than just apologize and remove it from the check, he bolted from the table to the bar to make sure the drink wasn't made, and then didn't return for ten minutes. Etc. and so on. He was a nice guy, just lacked training. None of these would have ruined our experience on their own, but by the end of dinner I was getting pretty frustrated.

Of course then we went to Parallel which was out of the first four glasses of wine my wife ordered and took 25 minutes to get something to drink. Perhaps just not our lucky night.
