We need to replace a double patio door from our kitchen to the deck and would like any suggestions for local companies regarding reliability, workmanship and quality of various brands you may have used.

We used http://www.wdshowplace.com/. We replaced our 15 year builder grade patio doors with Integrity by Marvin. Wish we had done it years ago. The room is quieter and much warmer than before. Good workmanship, neat and clean, and they replaced and painted the trim detail.

KT... can you give us an idea of the budget/cost for this? I really am trying to convince my wife that this would be worth it. And does your new door slide or just open... and with a screen?

We have the sliding patio doors. They make sliding French doors also, but we stayed with the narrow profile. Ours came with a screen (not retractable). They were not budget friendly so we hemmed and hawed over getting them. If your patio doors are 'standard' size expect to pay $2,500 and up for one We got the fiberglass called Ultrex.

Our original sliders leading out to the back patio were poorly installed because the frame was not square. They corrected that issue so we did not have to find another contractor to fix it first. They did everything you would expect from an outfit that sells windows and doors which is why we chose them. Believe me, it was totally worth it. Now we're considering replacing all the windows.

Just so you know, they do not offer financing through their company, only 3rd party.
