Speaking of redoing the master bath.....what color did everyone use to paint the master bath? My master bedroom is hunter green which I really like but I don't know what color to paint the bath. Is it supposed to "match" the bedroom? I thought of a lighter green or a khaki/tan color to match the nice tile I have in there. Do you always have to use a light color in a mbath? Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I remember reading one time that you should pick a color that compliments your skin tone. That way, when you're getting dressed or putting on makeup, you look your best. :indiff3:

Just another idea. We wallpapered our master bath. My bedroom is a barnyard red with a khaki ceiling (yes, we paint our ceilings) and we picked a pattern that pulled out the colors of our bedroom.

If you are concerend about your grout and mildew, i suggest using an epoxy grout that never needs to be sealed and is mildew resistant. I used it in my new tile kitchen floor. It cost abour 3X more than regular grout but is well worth it in the long run. I too reccomend a tile floor for your base.

Thanks for the great idea. We did decide to do tile base. Didn't even think about epoxy grout.

I would go with a khaki color to go with tile. Love the look of a darker wall in the bathroom. It doesn't have to be too dark. Just something that will really bring out the tile. Benjamin Moore has some great Historical Colors and their new Aura line has a paint perfect for bathrooms.

we are in the process of getting estimates on redoing our mastebath.(retile shower & surround by tub, build 1/2 wall to make pony wall full wall, and new tile floor) think we might have a similar problem as some of you. shower seems to be leaking in front of door. (laminate discolored, tiles pulling from wall outside shower, baseboard wet) thought it was leakage from door and not chaulked properly. ripped out chaulk and grout, replaced and rechaulked. chaulk keeps cracking. water kinda puddles in shower pan, on the same side as the leak outside the door. reading this, i am afraid that when they rip out the pan, they will find mold and who knows what else! also, the only estimate i got, was NOT going to rip up laminate floor, just lay down new subfloor and then tile. (questioned him about the old subfloor rotting) said he might just replace part of that. does this sound right? going to get 2 more estimates. so far tho, $3,400, not including tile. (getting tile from prosource)
