Anyone have a tip for removing the bonnet nut? I know exactly what I need to do to fix the leaky shower head but can't get past the bonnet nut.

Hopefully you got this removed by now but you can try heating the nut and removing it if its that stuck. You can also use warm-hot water and vinegar to then wipe it on the bonnet nut to try and remove remove any calcium buildup. Just be careful because this can turn into an expensive job if something goes wrong.

The turning into an expensive job part is what is keeping me from trying too much. Anyone have a plumber they would recommend for a small job?

Unfortunately most plumbers will not come out for a small job like this. You may want to try a handyman that is highly recommended on the forum and see if they will come out and fix it if you are uncomfortable with making a bigger issue. Have you tried using a strap wrench or large channel lock pliers? If it bonnet nut still wont budge then usually the only way to loosen it id by heating it up.
