Banjara, Broadlands Pub and Grill, Cafe Opera, Mediterranean Breeze, Mezza Grill, Michelangelo, Mirchi, Najoya, Sal's Pizza, and Village Grill are all local restaurants that participate in restaurant.com. For example, you can buy a gift certificate for $10.00 and use it for $25.00 of food. There are frequent specials, where you can get a certificate for an even cheaper price! It's a great way to try new restaurants and keep dining out affordable. I've mostly had good experiences using the certificates (and have used them at places in Fairfax County, also).

The one unfavorable experience I had was at Cafe Opera. As required to use the $25.00 gift certificate that I purchased, we bought $50.00 worth of food. However, the server mistakenly told us that the bill needed to be $50.00 after the certificate was applied, and that therefore we needed to order $75.00 worth of food. We pointed out the wording on the certificate stating the terms, and she didn't seem happy about the fact that the four of us we were not going to order extra food. Then, when the food came out, we noticed that the portions were much smaller than we were used to. It seems that the owners like the extra business that the certificates bring in, but don't want to live up to the terms of the program. I did report this to restaurant.com. I haven't had any similar issues with other restaurants, thankfully!

Just remember to tip on the value of the food before the discount is applied ... enjoy!

Go to the upromise website frequently ... sometimes you'll stumble on these certificates for 75% off ... so the $25 certificate for $10 is actually just $3.00.

We also used a certificate at Cafe Opera a few weeks ago and we didn't have a problem with the dollar amount, but they did add the tip on before they brought us the bill. I guess they wanted to guarantee that we were going to tip on the before-certificate amount. We always do tip pre-discount, but Cafe Opera lost out because we usually tip a little higher than standard and since they added the tip on, we left the amout as it was.

I would suggest calling the restaurant you are interested before you buy a gift cert. I got all excited when I found restaurant.com and bought a few certificates at like 75% off and when I tried to use it at Broadlands Pub, they said that they don't honor them.
By the way we had never been there before and I was kinda surprised when we walked in lol! On the webpage it says to bring the family but I wouldn't really call it a family place. More like the place you go when you have a babysitter ;) Looked like a lot of fun, but very smoky.
Village Grill is one of our favorite places and I emailed them asking about it and they said they get the cert's all the time and had no problem with them.
Next on my list was Cafe Opera but I guess I have my answer!
The good thing about VG is that you only have to spend $35 to get the $25 off. Most want you to spend $50. At Cafe Opera that could be fun though and nothing is better than Chinese food leftovers.
On the certificates it does say that they're to add 18% gratuity to the bill which is fine by me.
The current coupon code is "vote" I believe, but if you ever want to buy cert's from there, just look up codes first. It's still getting more for less, but the less you pay the better.

Restaurant.com is offering 70% off their already reduced restaurant certificates when you enter code DESSERT at checkout.

$25 certificates which normally sell for $10, are now $3.

That code also works on their restaurant of the month club. So you could buy their 12 - $25.00 certificate package with the free $50.00 certificate ($350.00 value) and it would only cost you $24.00 total.

On Friday I purchased (4) of the $25 certificates to "The Dock at Lansdowne" for $12. The only thing with that is I need to use one at a time, spend at least $35 each time, and go on Sunday-Thursday (that's the hard part), and use them within one year, but in the end I'm saving $88 ($22 per visit). Thanks for the info!

And only one certificate per month......

Anybody has experience with Banjara Restaurant? Did they accept this certificate without any issue?

I've used them at The Dock, Cafe Opera, Nagoya, Village Grill and Michelangelos. My daughter has used one at the Russia House in Herndon.

Cool, I got one for Bangrak too -- how was it? I've never been there.

I saw that Michelangelos no longer is on there (restaurant.com), unless I missed it somehow :(

honestly- it does not compare to My Thai or Anothai. We were dissapointed.
I have 3 other ones to use, Dock, Vintage 50, and one of the Japanese Steak houses.
