Lived here for 3 years and I'm still in search of good eats in the area. Anyone got a good review of a place they had recently eaten or a favorite place. Please list the location so I can find it. I don't care about price. As cheap as a sandwich from Giant to prices found at Little Inn of Washington. Just want some good food. Lets try to keep this to this area. Lets say max 15-20 min drive.

My favirotes are Emilos next to World Gym and the Japanese place in the Giant food shopping center off of Clairborne.

Off note, anyone done the kitchen table at Galelio in DC? Want to do it but want to know if it's worth the pocket change and hype.

    Teak,

I highly recommend 'Tokyo Sushi' it's located at 44031 Ashburn Shopping Plz. It's in the same plaza as the new Ruby Tuesday's, Giant Food, Popeye's, Indian restaurant and Irish sportsbar. Their phone number is (703) 858-3434.

They offer dine-in or carryout, which is a great plus for me, since we have a 1.5 year old and we were craving for some sushi. Since it's difficult to find something for a youngster to eat in a sushi place, it was great to be able to take it home. Everything was extremely well wrapped and hot items stayed hot!

The food was excellent! I had a variety of pieces, as well as some tempura and everything was simply delicious. Definately going to return for more. In fact, I think I'll plan on taking the family out tomorrow evening :D

If you like Indian, the Indian place in the same plaza is great also. We've been there a few times and the food was great. Don't let the lack of customers scare you away...

Finally, if you want to get together with the neighbors, including the kids, the Buffalo Wing Factory in the Shopper's Food plaza is a nice place. Lots of yummy wings, and plenty of options for the kids. The beer is pretty good too ;)

Rio Grande in Reston Towncenter has the best fajitas I've ever had and yummy con queso dip.

In keeping with the "mexican" theme Anita's in Herndon (across from the townhall area off Elden Street) is New Mexico style food but they have THE best breakfast burritos. May I suggest the breakfast burrito #8 and add chorizo. You get to choose between red chili or green chili sauce and homefries or hashbrowns.

Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg is very good food with big wine list & good beers on tap. Their spring roll & pot sticker appetizers are fab AND they make their own bread. Bit pricey but not Little Inn pricey.

Arigato Sushi in Fairlakes shopping center (same center as Petsmart, BJ's, Target...) is yummy. There's another real good sushi place in Sterling at Countryside shopping center (next to Cheng's restaurant which is a high end chinese place, and across from Regal Cinemas) I just can't remember the name.

Ok, now I'm going to go eat something.:D

    Great topic, teak!

Cheng's in Sterling (where the movie theater is) has the best Chinese around I think. A step above all the neighborhood ones. When they're busy, it can take a while to get your food, though. You can get delivery from Takeout Taxi (but sometimes that takes a while too).

Pacific in Sterling (Target/Toys R Us shopping center) is a great place to go out for a nice night. It's owned by the same people who own Cheng's. They have a piano player who sings show tunes/standards in the background on weekend nights. They serve food from around the Pacific (Chinese, Japanese, Thai...) and it's all great. They also have a cute kids meal garnished with gummy products.

The Supper Club of India is in Herndon in the Worldgate center. They have a great lunch buffet during the week. I understand they are more formal at night. Excellent food and service.

Toyama Sushi is in Ashburn in the Shoppers Food Warehouse center. We have gotten delivery from them twice now and I like them better than both the Ashburn Farm and Ashburn Village Japanese places so far.

Old Dominion Brew Pub is a great place for Happy Hour and dinner. They've recently expanded the restaurant and added items to the menu.(the pub burger and the reuben are yummy!!) They usually have 15-20 beers on tap. And the best thing is they're right here in Ashburn! :)

In the same vein, we woke up the other day hankering for some greasy steak & eggs and, being the new kids on the block, we couldn't find a "real" breakfast place (Starbucks or Bagle Buddies just doesn't cut it when you're looking to clog the arteries). Anybody know of a Greasy Spoon around Ashburn?

Regarding Greasy Spoons, we have also had the same problem. It seems the DC area is lacking in these types of establishments, or the owners do a great job of hiding their restaurant. I know of one in Arlington (don't recall the name), but that's too far to drive.

A gem of a hidden place is called La Chosita's in Leesburg. When you're on 7 and get to the split, Mom's Apple Pies is in front of you and just behind it is a gravel driveway. If you get to the gas station you went to far.
Excellent mexican/el savadoran food for super cheap (like 7$ gets you a huge entree and sides).

Regarding breakfast food, here's my input. There's a small place right next to Starbucks in Ashburn Village shopping center where Giant food, India restaurant, and burger king are located. It's run by I believe an italian couple? Food has always been good. How about Bob Evans in Leesburg outlet mall parking lot? Been there I think once or twice. So what is Greasy Spoons? Diner food? I don't like the IHOP in sterling off of Rt 7. The one by my work has been my favorite among the half dozen or so I've tried in the DC area.

If I want greasy (well not that greasy) food, I head over to the firehouse in Ashburn for fireman's breakfast. Pancakes, biscuit and gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs, hashbrown, juice, coffee, etc. All for something like $7. Catch is this only happens once a month - on the second sunday of every month. I started doing this to help support the local volunteer firehouse but the food is good enough to come back.

I'm definitely going to try this japanese restaurant everyone here is talking about. I think I've seen ads for it in the mail.

I agree Old Diminion has good food and good beer. Just the location is kinda weird.

Don Pablos is good but I haven't been to the Sterling location. I'm really a big fan of brunch. Any good ones near by. I usually head over to Sully Station in Chantilly to a place call Blues ???. Can't remember the name but it's in a shopping center with a gas station, a fabric store, and a nursery (plant). Maybe Westfields St or something? I do have their business card at home. Great food for $10. Omlete station, fresh waffle, hot entrees, deserts, smoked salamon, eggs benedict, and an optional bloody marry bar :) yum.

Anything around Church rd? I used to eat at Wings Factory but I now eat at the one with Shoppers. Wings are always good.

Glad to hear there's a Ruby Tuesday. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a salad and thats where I get my fix. Even though the food at RT is not the best.

I just went to the Ruby tuesdays last thursday... they are still learing how to serve, but their ribs were incredible, recommend the dry rub. Also have great happy hour prices on beer, I think it was $1.25 for a pint.

We like Sweetwater Tavern but go on Sunday afternoon to avoid a long wait for a table. It is on Rt 7 in Sterling.

For an awesome brunch, the Riverside Hearth restaurant in the Landsdowne Resort is a good choice. They even have a very short food table so kids can pick their own food. And kids eat for free. It was 34.95 per adult but worth every penny - lots of fresh seafood such as snow crab legs and oysters.

Cosi in the Reston Town Center makes great and different sandwiches and salads. The bread is wonderful and a meal on its own.

If I asked my kid what his choices were? Rainforest Cafe in Tysons Corner Mall #1.

Mc Cormick & Schmick's in Reston - Very good seafood and you can ask the cook to make them how you want them. Excellent Service.

Angelo & Maxie's Steakhouse in Reston - Best Steak for the money. I would never go to Morton's again

Tup Tim Tai in Sterling - Really good authentic Thai food. Service is a little slow. I'm always prepared to wait when i do go.

Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg - our new favorite special place. Their Sunday Brunch buffet is at $19.50 but my son(5) eats for free. So it didn't came out too bad. Wonderful selection and excellent service.

IHOP in Sterling - Usually packed on Sundays. The have a cleaner place and the people are nicer than the one in Leesburg.

Taste of Vietnam in Countryside Sterling - Best Vietnamese food in the area. More selections than just beef soup.

    Enjoy.

We went to Galelio - it was horrid. We had to wait a while for our table and our food was only so-so. We were a little surprised because we enjoy good food, and heard it was good. Now Inn at Little Washington we love. We have been there 3 times in the last year, may have to get a second job to support that habit!

My favorite in the area is Zefferelli's in old downtown Herndon behind the Town Hall. Great italian food and great service. They just opened a restaurant off Catoctin Circle in Leesburg, but I haven't been to that one yet.

Oh..Also in Herndon is The Russia House (right accross from Zefferelli's). Pricey but I must suggest their homemade vodka. They make many flavored vodkas themselves (so strawberry flavor is actually reddish colored) and they come to you extra cold. Russian food, based I think on Great Fall's Serbian Crown but a touch lower scale.

The Ice House in Herndon (right off Elden Street, across from Jimmy's Tavern) is quite good. They have live music on weekends and probably one or two other nights. Both a bar menu & dinner menu. MMM

If you like an occational greasy burger they are opening a 5 Guys in Herndon on John Milton Dr. (much better than fudruckers) If you are interested in a very good, dressy casual there is a delicious restaurant in Centreville called Bonefish Grill. They are always packed so reservations are suggested. The best pizza and sub place is Giovannis in Leesburg. Its the closest to NY pizza around. Hope that helps.

For some fantastic Italian, try Domani Ristorante in Ashburn Village (near Ruby Tuesday's, Dairy Qween, etc). I highly recommend the Rigatoni Rustica, an oven baked plate of grilled chicken breast, smoked ham and rigatoni in a creamy parmesan sauce. Their service is also top notch. Prices range from $7-15. No need to call ahead, there is always space open.

I got one! Del Rio in Leesburg. Mexican place, decent food (weekdays they have a buffet for less than $5). They also do something unique (for Leesburg anyway[8D]). On Saturday nights they have comedy night. Starting at around 10pm they have a set of usually 2 or 3 comedians (on the Laugh Trax circuit). Can be quite entertaining. This place is on your left right off Rt 7 after you pass the exits for the 15 bypass.
