No one can force anyone on anyone else. When we don't want to hear screaming kids, we don't go to Red Robin. Or we go to dinner later at night when the munchkins aren't around. Or we go to a more sophisticated restaurant where kids don't eat. I don't see this as a problem. There are plenty of restaurants that cater to every different environment.

Err, you are way off track. By kid friendly/comfortable I mean:

-- A decent waiting area with a place to sit for most people waiting.
-- Call ahead seating, reservations -- or the assurance we won't wait 35+ mins.
-- A children's menu that really is one, i.e. pricing and choices are good -- not an afterthought.
-- Somewhat roomy tables, we prefer booths -- not a cramped place (important).
-- Not really just a bar -- and of course no smoke.
-- Pricing that is moderate or inexpensive.
-- Doesn't take forever to get our food.
    -- Good food, reasonable quantities!

We love to dine at nice places without the kids. But can't help but wonder how many not-so-kid-friendly places this area can support -- i.e cramped, types of food kids just don't like with a kids menu of just more of the same on the kids menu, caters to bar crowd, cost too much for a family etc etc.

maybe b/c i only have one and he is 9, i don't see the lack of kid-friendly that those of you with 2 or more with young'uns under 9 experience. so i gracefully bow out of that argument...

i need to create a night by night "where kids eat free or at discounted rates" list. but Fosters has big honkin' tables, Anothai also has big booths and a nice kid's menu, and at Mimi's if you call ahead, you can typically walk right into a table, even though the waiting area isn't too big.

I work near that shopping center. I saw that there is going to be a new pizza place in its place - the sign was up, but don't know when it is opening.
