This was posted this morning on the Brambleton board:

"My trip to Tysons this morning had some good and bad. Ryan Rd and LCP are very snow/ice packed and narrow to one lane. Sometimes that left lane is the travel lane then it completely changes and you have to move over to the right side. Route 28 was mostly good and the Dulles Toll Rd was excellent. "

I know Green way toll is very expensive... but on these weather conditions .. glad I have an alternate route via Green way / Dulles toll Road .... They do a great job clearing these two roads ....

Ventured out this morning to make an ultimately pointless trip into Sterling, and I have to give MAJOR KUDOS to the HOA contractors. By FAR the best roads I encountered were in our own neighborhood (Milford Drive). Once I crossed Waxpool all bets were off - the next half-decent road I hit was 28. Even 7 only has one lane "sort of" clear; the rest are icy snowpack on every road.

Looking at the computer models, if I had to take a guess, I would say it will be closer to 7-8 inches.

How is Truro Parish to Belmont? Wondering if I'd be able to make it up the hill towards Glebe View then back down again towards Belmont. Major cabin fever setting in!!

Is there something I can do now to prepare for more snow? I made sure the deck and the front porch and the driveway and the sidewalk are clear...

Yes, JLC you're hilarious. But I was thinking more in terms of additional snow clearing or knocking snow from the tree branches. I got the drinking part covered already.

I say we all take a shot (of Patron) every time Mr. Linux post a NWS update.

Yes, decks need to be shoveled off as the weight of the snow can damage them or insome cases bring them down.

I'm just going to take the shotgun out front and start blasting. Maybe if I hurt the snow enough it will tell all it's friends to stay away.

Please to be ignoring such noises from Ridgeway.

Everyone, as per Lilpea's request, everyone take another 'shot' of Patron, because here comes another NWS report... Please note where they say "ACCUMULATIONS... 10 TO 20 INCHES."... Additionally, it's no longer a 'Watch'; it's been upgraded to a 'Warning'...

Issued by The National Weather Service
    Baltimore/Washington, MD

Linux, you seem to know what you're talking about, so I have a question for you. Why is it that accuweather and The Weather Channel have such differing accumulation predictions?

    Here's accuweather's prediction:

    And The Weather Channel:

Personally, I never use Accuweather. Their data is usually old and not very good (my opinion), which is what I assume is the reason for the discrepancies you're seeing. Stick with the Weather Channel data, and if you want a second opinion, check out Weather Underground (http://www.wunderground.com/). WU has some pretty good info if you've never visited before. Maybe not as 'user friendly' as TWC, but LOTS of cool data to look at, etc.

In this instance, I'm rooting for accuweather to be right!!!!

Thanks for your thoughts. They were spot on for the last one, at least in our zip code.
