    Gardening Gurus--

    j3mom and others--

Recently someone asked me for preventive measures for rodent and other pest control methods for vegetable and flower gardens. Yes, we have used the "Castor Oil" method and it works well most of the time. Any other pest control problems (Organic or otherwise)--just ask.

Web sites/links for Garden Pest Control--

www.prevention.com/finder/0,5785,s1-6-72-109-4607-1,00.html (Prevention Magazine and their web site info is great for rodent and garden pest controls. The Castor Oil method works well. You can look also for Castor Oil pellets at your local hardware and garden centers--if you cannot locate locally--I can provide info on where to order online the Castor Oil pellets. The Bounce Classic dryer sheets will work also.)

I forgot to mention aphid control--use ladybugs in a box. My husband recently went to Wolf Trap Nursery on Route 7 in Vienna, VA to purchase ladybugs to "catch and release" for our kitchen vegetable garden. Blue Mount Nursery in Ashburn was out of stock of the ladybugs.

Aphids were eating up some of our heirloom tomato leaves; and we placed the ladybugs on the affected areas. Works great. Ladybugs are known to eat over 1000 aphids at a time.

Below are articles, web sites/links regarding aphids and ladybugs in the gardens--
