My husband and I are new to the area and I'm trying to find a nice romantic restaurant for the end of the month. Can anyone recommend something within about 30 minutes driving time? Thanks!

Parallel can be romantic, Travinia's, while large, has some intimate tables and live jazz nights, what kind of food are you looking for- straight up American or some kind of ethnic cuisine?

We're pretty adventurous eaters so the type of cuisine isn't so important - I'm looking more for ambience. Thanks for your help!

Melting Pot in Reston, Lightfoot in Leesburg. Travinias is pretty but the last time we went (our second time), service was strange and the food wasn't that great for the money.

I agree - Chez Francious would be my pick....yes it's expensive, but VERY romantic and quaint, food is good. My husband and I went there for an anniversary, fire was going, had a table for two, quiet and romantic and it's worth every penny...in my book, Melting Pot is not very romantic...

oh no! i've been twice to Travinia and both times were simply perfect- food and service-wise. hope you let the manager know- they can't improve if they don't know what's wrong. :)

    Lightfoot is a great one...

This place is the greatest - The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm http://www.patowmackfarm.com
Went there for our 10th anniversary and the gave us personalized menus. It was chilly in November a few years back. Maybe they have more heaters there now.

Also, love, love Magnolias at the Mill. Always delicious.

I'd vote Chez Francois. Food is delicious AND if you go for lunch, you get a 4-course fixed price lunch for $36 per person (including a glass of wine). Lunch portions are about the same as dinner portions, too.

If you want to go a little less expensive, El Manantial in Reston is excellent Spanish/French/Italian. Excellent food, though a bit less ambiance.

Don't forget to factor in the dry cleaning bill after you go to the Melting Pot. The smell will not leave!!!!
I am not a huge Melting Pot fan. The concept is fun- but the food quality is not that great.

I love Vintage 50 in Leesburg.

    We enjoy Lightfoot also.

Nice ambience as it use to be an old bank.

We had a snooty waiter last time we were there. But that was a few years ago (haven't been back after that experience!). We did like the ambiance and the food was pretty good. They had a nice brunch too...but all it takes is one bad night to put it on the blacklist.
Maybe we'll try it again sometime this year...

I have to throw in my thought with the Wine Kitchen in Leesburg...it isnt traditional romantic...but you can go out for great wine and nice tastings in an urban like setting...I really like it

I agree with you on Melting Pot - only been once, but for the price, food was not that great!

I haven't been here in years, but it used to be fantastic. At one time it was voted as the most romantic restaurant in the DC area.

Chez Francois is a favorite for just the 2 of us for a romantic dinner, but I have a few different places on my list for food (not ambiance).

I'd reserve Melting Pot for a group of friends where you want the time to really linger over your food while you catch up with each other.
