We have replaced our router twice in the last 6 months. Both were netgear and asus. The replacements were due to the loss of internet service through the router. Tonight we hard wired into the wan and internet service is working. Do we now purchase a 3rd router and hope to not repeat the same problem?

Thanks in advice for any ideas!

Are you talking about wifi routers? I've found that almost all of the consumer grade routers require restarts from time to time. Most even have an option to schedule a restart and I find that helps. The best budget router I've used so far performance and stability wise is the Asus RT-AC68U. Plus it supports the new Asus mesh network if you buy more than one.

Yes. Our most recent wifi router was the ASUS AC1750. We tried to restart and still no internet.

It sounds like maybe your configuration is being reset, etc. Routers rarely go bad...if ever.

Does the company who manufactures your router provide technical support? Is the router getting unplugged somehow? Are automatic updates being applied to the firmware that knock out your connection? I've had a linksys for four years and it's been pretty good.
