Oh please. Drop the mock indignation. The HOA and the sub-committees are not heartless. They ARE your neighbors, many of whom have had their own personal issues and battles in life to deal with. I understand Mr Keister disappointment but he seems a very reasonable man and has moved on, I suggest you do too.

I am sorry if offering information and what I thought was hope for a happy resolution makes me appear heartless. But thanks you for your explanation I now understand where you are coming from.

By the way, I deal with special needs children on a daily basis so I do get the concepts of life, hope and friendship. But my experiences also makes me realize none of those concepts are truly possible with out rules and neighbors otherwise you have loneliness and chaos.

Just want to make a point.

Would you feel your neighbors remarks are heartless if the original poster stated he built the tree house and never mentioned his daughter has special needs? I have a feeling the sentiments posted by the proponents would be vastly different. Using emotional appeal is a fallacious approach.

Broadlands IS a family community and every parent wants what's best for their children but they understand when you move into an HOA controlled community, you have to abide by the rules; not saying those rules can not be flexible...which is why an appeals process exists.

We couldn't have a tree house of that size in Ashburn Village, either. But it was beautiful and cool. The builder might earn a good second income making those...

I agree, Villager, it is an absolutely gorgeous treehouse. I would love to have one of those but I'd use it as a retreat for me!

Ok. I apologize to MSFlynn and others. Yes, it is all about emotion for me. 100% in this case. I feel terrible for the kid and the parents.

You have no idea of this man's motives and your tone is judgmental - like many on this forum.

What if, indeed, others wanted treehouses for their children? I can think of alot worse things for children to be involved in. Perhaps this sterile community needs to build treehouses so children can do other things besides playing violet video games and getting into trouble.

Wow. So we should get the county involved - what next? Why don't we just drag the federal gov't in too.

Yes, it is a shame that there are such small-minded people. This family needs the support of his community.

Your tone is quite judgmental, especially as you probably have never met him.

Look, the guy has explained to everyone on this thread that he's giving up the battle and taking down the treehouse. As I stated earlier, I think he genuinely created this thread in an effort to gain some neighborly support and "vent" about the challenges he's facing with the HOA.

He lost his treehouse, got bashed by a few folks on this thread, and is still receiving negative responses. I wish someone would close this thread already.

I agree....I feel bad MOSTLY for his daughter who probably is having a tough time trying to understand why her refuge is coming down but I do understand that there are rules that everyone must abide by. I hope the daughter is able to recover from this tragedy of having her "house" taken down. I pray that she is able to have a house even ON the ground which would probably be the next best thing to have! Im sorry that it didn't go the way it was originally designed.

Maybe it would be best to close this thread out of respect for all parties.
