"Scouting For Food" Is November 14

Scouting for Food is coming November 14! When you see sales on nonperishable food items, why not pick up a few extras to stock up for hungry families in Loudoun County?

Between last Saturday and this Wednesday, Cub Scouts will leave a grocery bag on front doors of homes throughout Broadlands. On November 14 they'll be back out at 9am sharp to pick up food donations. Please set yours out before 9am!

Last year, Cub Scout Pack 1483, which meets at Hillside, collected 5,650 pounds of food. Out of the entire Goose Creek District, a total of 108,281 pounds of food was collected - enough to feed 2400 families including over 10,000 children. There ARE needy families in Loudoun County, and this service project helps them have food for their tables.

I was told Pack 1484 ran out of bags and not all of Southern Walk got them. You can use any grocery bag and they'll pick it up.

 

Some more info from our Scouting for Food coordinator:

* You can give cash donations or store gift cards as well.
* You may use any other bag/s or boxes of your choosing. If the boys do not see a bag, they will knock on the door.
* All food items go to the Holiday Coalition and will feed the hungry right here in our area.
* If you would prefer, Pack 1483 will have a collection site in the Hillside Elementary School parking lot that morning from 9:00am until Noon where you can bring your donation and see how the operation works on collection day.
