Just an on-line heads up to Broadlands. Yesterday, the Boy Scouts carpeted the neighborhood with grocery bags for their annual food drive for the needy. Please don't throw the bag away without a thought--food banks are busier than ever. If you can help, please donate and the scouts will be back to pick up your bags next week.

If you didn't get a bag and want to participate, please bring your donations to the Southern Walk swimming pool next Saturday morning at 9am. I'll be there to get them and include with the other pickups. As you'd expect, non-perishable or canned goods will do the trick.

    Thanks!

While we plan to participate, we had to retrieve our bag out of the tree first, and I noticed several neighbor's bags were blown away into the woods. Apparently the bags were not securely tied to the door.:(

Yep, my bag is ready and waiting. But I picked up a bag from my backyard yesterday. Then when I was out there today, picked up yet another one.

It is mostly young kids putting them on your doorsteps and feeling wonderful that they are trying to help those less fortunate. My 7 year old son had a big smile on his face when he got home and felt pride in what he just did.
Maybe we should give them a bit of leeway in the bag tying department. :D

I certainly didn't mean to make any young ones feel bad....I think it's a wonderful thing they do! Which is why I have my bag ready to go. :)

Agree the boys are doing a good thing.... but the person that tied the bags to the doors on my street was not young and DEFINITELY not a boy.

When you're out shopping this week, see what's on sale to contibute to the Scouting for Food drive. Your donations will help people who are going hungry right here in Loudoun County. Scouts will be coming beginning at 9 on Saturday. If they don't find anything on your step they're instructed to ring the doorbell to ask if you have a donation (in case you meant to and forgot). Help them out and put a bag or two out by 9!

Thanks for helping the Scouts help the community!
