Hi, all: I encourage all of you to read the latest Broadlands newsletter. You will notice that the HOA and HCA held an unpublicized hospital task force meeting. With the exception of HOA Board meetings (good luck hearing about one of those before it happens!) and take force meetings, all other meetings, events and activities are normally announced on this site or elsewhere.

I wonder why the HOA and HCA keep these so-called "task force" meetings secret? Are they afraid that the truth will get out about what they want to do to our quiet community of homes? If this hospital is so great, why do they do their planning in secret?

Stephanie: When was the last time you took a good look at the Broadlands HOA homepage. Try scrolling down a little - in a bright yellow box is a list of clubs/groups affiliated with our community - and guess what right in the middle of it is a heading that says "hospital task force". If you click on it it opens up to a page that explains who/what the task force is and even better has minutes of all their meetings. I don't see anything secret in that. And by the way, I'm not on the task force, nor do I have anything for or against the hospital - I just live here. Clarissa

Stephanie, I knew about the meetings. But then again I typically look at ALL of a web page I pull up. You should really double-check before attacking the HOA.

    Hi, all:

I have to agree with Stephanie about the meeting not being posted on the website ANYWHERE! cjfj, as you point out, there are minutes and a description of the website on the HOA's site. However, there is no notice about meetings! T8erman: Could we please not accuse someone of attacking the HOA when all she did was ask a question? When did "questioning" become "attacking"? We might as well live in a Nazi state if questioning is considered bad...

The meetings are not a secret but they are not general HOA meetings because they are information gathering meetings attended by a task force composed of pro-, anti-, and undecided-BRMC HOA members. At least that was the make-up when we started, but I couldn't say the same is true today -- meaning, some task force members may have changed their position on BRMC. If you go to the following HOA link, you can read about these non-secret meetings:

    http://hoa.broadlands.org/hoa/issues/hospital/default.asp

Before going off the dead-end on everything about the proposed hospital, I suggest that people review the HOA web site and read the news forums from day one to gather all the information.

Was there prior notice given of this meeting? If so, where? The website you provided did not give notice of the meeting before it happened.

There was definitely no notice posted on this web site before the meeting!

The ho$pital task force is the funniest thing ever! If you read the last newsletter and the minutes posted on line, they make it sound like the Broadlands ho$pital is even a remote possibility. Ha, and the pro-ho$pital minority calls those of us with valid questions about HCA and the ho$pital crazt???

HCA has been told "no" by everyone in the state! Let the un-noticed meetings go on while the HOA turns a blind eye to the real issues around here -- lights for Claiborne/Broadlands and Claiborne/Waxpool and a police station somewhere nearby to address all of the rampant, terrifying crime in the neighborhood that VACLIFF has pointed out.

    Stephanie-
If you read the minutes for the resident hospital task force, it will explain how and why it was formed. The meetings do not occur on a regular basis. This was the first one in several months. In addition to posting the minutes in the newsletter, we have links on the website, and the explanation for the creation of the task force was also explained on the website.
HCA has conducted numerous community-wide meetings. The task force is designed to work with a small group of residents. The group was made up of 8 members. 3 that supported the hospital, 3 opposed, and 2 that were undecided at the time it was formed.
If anyone still has questions about the task force, feel free to let me know and I can explain it further. Also, if there are individuals that would like to attend the meetings as an observer, let me know and I'll inform you of the next meeting. There is not one currently scheduled.

Cliff, Is it too much to ask that the next meeting be publicized before it happens? I know that I'd like to be there as an observer so I can see what really is going on. Also, it would be good to see if my family's HOA dues are buying something for HCA.

Again, if it's not too much of a hassle, could you just please post a note about the next meeting on this website so interested parties could show up and "observe"?

    Stephanie-
The room we use is fairly small, so I do not want to make a blanket post, since there would be no way of knowing how many people would show up. I don't want to be in a position of turning people away because of not having enough room.
Anyone interested in attending the next meeting can contact me directly and I will inform them of the date, time, and location.
