Does anyone know the status of the "Senior Housing and Community Services" section of Broadlands on Broadlands Boulevard? There has been a sign up since we moved here, but I've heard rumors that there may be a fire station or 7-11/ gas station or houses put there instead.

Also, I heard that St. Theresa's will be building a church on their property soon. Does anyone know the status of that?

The building fund drive for the St. Theresa Church is underway and the pledges are coming in. Believe it is suppose to be built in the wooded area directly in front of the present school front entrance. Start of the new church is probably 3-5 years away -- they don't keep the parish very well informed...

The previous developer, Terrabrook, has submitted an application to the county to remove these proffers and convert the site to single family homes on private streets. Since the sale of Terrabrook's interests in Broadlands to Van Metre, the process does not appear to be moving forward at this time.

It wouldn't surprise me if they changed the plans. That huge, two story, strip mall at Chickacoan was supposed to be a small bank site. I think Van Metre/Terrabrook has one site plan they show potential home buyers then, after that section is sold out, they change it to suit their own interests not the interests of the community.

Actually, the development at the corner of Chickacoan/Truro Parish is very similar to what I was shown back in 1996 when I considered lots on Awbrey and Oatyer Ct. I did not want to be too close to that site so I chose a lot a little further away on Tithables Cir.
The only real difference is that they were thinking of townhouse style offices where the "strip mall" building is. Height and overall size would have been the same, just a different style.
Tetra is still trying to get a bank for the corner pad, which is what was represented to the community by Terrabrook.
