Sharing Atlantech T1.

    I just put in for a quote from Atlantech on the price for a Clear Channel T1. I did this a few months back and it was the advertised $499. I am assuming it has not changed but I just want a fresh quote. I am just fed up with the broadband offerings in the Broadlands and need solid connectivity for my work.

    I am on the corner of Marsh Creek and Vestals Gap. I am looking for 3 - 5 other people to share and help with the cost. They would have to be line of sight from me, there would be no bandwidth throttling or any of that mumbo jumbo. We would all have static IP's etc.

    My job would help subsidize some of the cost, and I am shooting for $99 a person.

    Please let me know if you are interested.

    If I get 3 people who are definatly in, I will order the T1. It takes about 60 days from the date of order till it is up and running.

    UPDATE --

    Got the quote, it is $650 a month.

    I am still going to do this. My quote runs out on July 31st so I would like to hear if there is any interest.

    I am going to offer two price points.

    $59.99/month -- Dynamic address, 1.5Meg connection, no hosting allowed.
    $99.99/month -- 1-2 Static addresses, 1.5Meg connection, host anything but a spam server.
    -- Additional IPs for cost. Atlantec sells them in blocks of 16.

    Additional Things.

    $9.99/month -- If you want me to host a web site for you. This gets you 50meg of disk space.
    $12.99/month -- If you want me to host a web site with Pre Built PhotoAlbum. Also 50meg disk space.

    We will not be using standard 802.11b WiFi equipment which does not work well in a scenerio like this. This is where most Wireless providers have their issue. We will be using Proxim's Tsunami equipment, which has been designed from the ground up for this type of community wireless. It is a little more expensive, but worth it.

    Sounds like you got yourself an ISP. Wouldn't it be funny if you could provide a better service than Openband? And people were flocking to you for an account.
