"Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind. Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign". Except you cannot read mine anymore because somebody decided to five-finger discount them. :angryfire:

So Broadlands residents, if you see any kids, teenagers, neighbors, small furry animals (basically anything living and breathing, standing upright, or down on all fours) in the possession of 1 to 3 signs reading "If your dog poops, please scoop", they belong to me and I would really love to get them back.

Please post or send me a PM. Don't really want to get anyone in trouble, just want to get them back as they cost $17.50 a piece.

    Thanks,

    qzpmal

qzpmal - is the nice one in our house.

I am still going through the video camera footage from the weekend and once I find the frames that shows who took them, I will press charges.

I dont give a hoot if this was a prank - it's stealing and it's breaking the law.

is there a way that you can post any video images here? I do not see how there could be a legal issue with this... and might lead to someone here recognizing an individual. In order to press charges, you need an identity... so maybe the community can solve it first? (I would hope)

That maybe an issue, since it was two minors that appear to have taken the signs (based on the footage - it captured the incident on 01/27/07 01:12AM).

I will wait until 02/02/07- COB to see if the signs are returned to my house on Sunstone Ct.

If not, then I will provide the footage to the Sheriff's office and once identified -I WILL PRESS CHARGES and I don''t care that's a small dollar amount - these KIDS STOLE from my property and should be punished accordingly.

Stealing is stealing and if you are going to steal from me...be prepared to go to court. Considering I've pressed charges against a kid in SW for breaking into my car over the summer, I 'll let law punish these kids. As I said qzpmal is the nicer one in our house, I'm not that nice when it comes to this type of behavior.

DO IT. we are being harrased by some brats- I have No idea why- we don't have a teenager, no connections with them except my husband stopping some from committing crimes. they are ringin our doorbell at 2am, throwing ice and snowballs at our house... it's so ridiculous.

redon... how often does stuff like this happen? Have you complained to the sheriff? Not that I think they could do anything, but I think you should file a report at least. I still find it hard to believe that we have "youths" out causing this kind of problem at 2:00 in the morning. In Broadlands? Yea ok, I guess I have more to worry about than I thought for my 3 year old...getting mixed up with the "wrong" kids or something.

I got the same thing. I caught some kids rining doorbell and told them not to come back. Now I get the snowballs thrown at my door, doorbell ringing in the middle of the night and all sorts of stuff. Where you you live/ you can PM me if you want to.

folks the sheriff is WELL aware of our situation- every incident has been reported since this time last year when the first unprovoked incident occured. we need to catch them before this escalates any further- they are going from being a nuisance, to vandalism and it will only get worse b/c they will go until they are stopped. what if the iceball they through broke our window? what if my young son is outside when they decide to throw something from the woods and gets hurt?

problem is they could be hurt or will be arrested before they stop- if we catch them on our property they WILL be detained while we call the cops and their parents. i hope anyone with teens reading this has a heart to heart with their kids about how serious this can become and if they know kids bragging about it they need to go ahead and narc 'em out.

it's really stupid that we can't quietly enjoy our home b/c a few dorks have decided to target our house- they don't KNOW us and have no reason to bother us- we're just an easy target near trees. but it WILL stop one way or another.

Wow. I am sorry this is happening to you Redon. I have heard stories like this in the past. Awful. I have no helpful advice. I hope it stops.

To the child that anonymously returned one of our signs today. Thank you so much for returning the sign. We really do appreciate it and it was the right thing to do. Your apology is accepted and be comforted by the fact that we are not upset with you but are very happy that you returned the sign. Your note was very nice as well.

So I came home from work found one (out of my three) signs placed in my mailbox with a heart felt note.

I wanted to let this person know that I am really proud of you for returning the sign and your extra note. This was a very grown up thing that you did. I am truly amazed that you took responsibility for your actions, because most children would not. THANK YOU for doing the right thing.

If you know the two other boys that took the other two signs, remind them they have until Friday 11:59PM to return them. Otherwise I will send the video footage to the Sheriff's office

Ummmm, Heartfelt? Doubtful. If the kid knows what's being said here, in lieu of the Cops being involved, what would you do? The kid is probably xxxxxing his pants. I'd call the cops, now. Put an end to this ridiculous behavior. The parents of these kids need to have their heads examined, with their kids out all hours of the night.

If taking the teen to court is more expensive than the original signwhat would it be worth? I mean ok,if it's a custom sign with your family's name and expensive thats one thing, but if it's a little sign(Most likely replaceable from Home Depot) then why would you take them to court? I mean if the teen returns it then fine, but Is it worth being so mean to the kid that has done a little misdemenor, yess it's illegal but not worth all the leagal trouble in both parties.

It's "just a little misdemeanor"... No harm there, right?

What's next, "just a little felony"?

First, the Commonwealth of VA would pursue charges and court time, all I would need to do is take some time off from work and trust me I have plenty of time to take off.

As far as the expense, your statement on the value of the signs does not hold any merit. (FTR - these were custom made signs that you can not pick up at a local hardware store)

The act of stealing from someone is the whole point that you are missing. Regardless that this is a misdemeanor - a few misdemeanors can add up to more fines, community service and/or juvie.

Granted I could post the streaming video of the teens that took the signs, but I am giving them an opportunity for amnesty- return the last 2 signs w/o getting the police involved.

So it's the kids choice (I've already had 1 sign returned with an apology) - either return the last 2 signs by 02/02/07 11:59PM with no further action from me or I will turn the video over to the police (and yes I know one of kids) and let them handle it with your parents.

Kids better think twice about stealing/vandalism from homeowners - you'll never know if you are being watched by a home security camera.

Return them or I give the police the video - end of story.
