Yes. People should simply keep their garbage cans in their garages. I'd support a ban on trailer-trash lattice.

As for lattice type structures to hide the trashcans, depending how they are built. You can do some nice things with lattice, such as growing some hanging jasmine on it.

And as for people with dead grass and trees I must admit I am guilty of that. I do water the grass and trees, but I have to balance how much I care about what my neighbors think my yard looks like with my urge to try to save as musch water as I can since we are in the middle of a drought. As well as my environmental leanings.

I use lattice to support my hydrangea and clematis. It's not "trailer-trash" looking, whatever your definition of "trailer-trash" is. Care to define for the viewers what you constitute as trailer trash?

I don't agree that a structure should be erected to house a trash bin. But I still don't understand why the bin cannot be place in the backyard, under a deck perhaps. Most every homeowner has a deck and/or a fenced in back yard. Then, it wouldn't be visible from the street.

IMO, the closeness of the houses themselves should lead to more restrictions.

Lattice does not bother me at all.

First, the Mod-Sub-Comm would require that the lattice be framed and second, require some landscape screening.

I wasn't intending to point fingers at anyone in particular, and I am sure that your lattice looks absolutely beautiful. However, I've seen some nasty looking lattice in the neighborhood that looks like it appeared on an episode of Cops "Trailer Park Edition" ten years ago.

Then please do call the HOA office. There is a chance that the owners put it up without approval and did not follow the guideline for having it framed.

What if you don't have a garage but you have a trash can?

Good question. But I cannot think off the top of my head if there ARE any homes in BLands without a garage...

A bunch, some right off Claiborne across from Hillside(townhomes of course). But one can't expect them to put the trash can in a garage they dont have. Yet, I understand they have to follow the same rules as the rest.

Rules can be based on sections.. and are for many different things.

I don't know what those townhomes do specifically.

I do know the rule, no visible trash can. Unless it changed from when I lived over there years ago.

Declaration for Broadlands Article 8; Section 8.2 Paragraph i - "Trash containers shall not be permitted to remain in public view from the common area or another lot except on days of trash collection". The choices are in the garage, behind a fence or in a trash enclosure. As those townhouses back to the woods and have some privacy fencing, it would be appropriate to store the receptacle in the back yard close to the house on the ground level next to the privacy fence. Likewise if the yard is enclosed by a privacy fence any where in the back yard would be permitted.

Placing the garbage can inside your fence is indeed allowed by the HOA. Cliff said so in the last thread on this topic.

My question was really addressed to the homeowners that are complaining. It's a moot point to go on and on, whining when the simple solution is to place the bin in the back yard - simple. The THs without garages have to abide by the same rules, and for the most part, seem to manage just fine. So what's the problem with these folks who are constantly complaining. IMHO, I think they're being lazy.

Ok, so I can put my can in my back yard behind my fence even if you can still see it?
