Instead of going there - you can go to that grocery store in Ashburn Farm - there's a full PO in that store. Can't remember what it's called...it's where Good Year is

I posed your question to Cliff Keirce who is running for the Loudoun Board of supervisors and is the current Dulles District Planning Commissioner. Here is his response -

    Hi Will-

Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, the current Board of Supervisors REMOVED the extension of Shellhorn Road across the Broad Run last year! This made absolutely no sense. This road could have been extended to the Sterling Blvd/Rte 28 interchange and provided a great parallel road to the Greenway.

There is another planned crossing, just north of Shellhorn Rd (called Rte 743 extended), but there is no money to build it. It would actually go from Waxpool Road (between the Regency development and Verizon), cross over Loudoun County Parkway, cross the Broad Run, and tie in to Moran road which would take you to Rte 606.
There is an application in the county for development along Loudoun County Parkway that would actually build Rte 743 Extended from Waxpool to the other side of Broad Run. Their initial development proffers did not build the road until their project is mostly built out. I have met with them and stressed the importance of building the road much sooner in their plans.

Please go to my website to see some of my other ideas on transportation (keirceforsupervisor.com) or give me a call if you'd like to talk about it.

    Cliff

    Doug-
You are absolutely correct. I have a lot of first hand experience (as Planning Commissioner the past year and a half) at seeing how cumbersome and difficult the county process is for someone wanting to build a project here. Election after election, candidates promise to make Loudoun more business friendly. Then they get elected and do nothing about it.
It's something I plan to change if elected.
