AFGM--if Blackout is so right on and not just a spin machine for a very narrow slice of the hardcore Democratic party--and you are too funny calling it bipartisan with the folks who make up the core--why do you sound so very frantic?

To anyone who actually participates in the Republican Committee--you are aware that the LCRC and the 10th District Committee are two different things--Heidi Stirrup of Gainesville is running for 10th district chair against the incumbent Jim Rich of The Plains (could that explain how little comes out of the 10th District committee?)--and as of the primary, where both Stirrup and Rich had petitions about this, Eugene had no such thing going on.

Why has he sent out nothing official? Why has he circulated no petitions as the other contenders have?

This sounds on a par with "Vote Herring or Dick Black will be your Supervisor".

I'm a moderate centrist. I vote for the best person not party. I stand by Blackout 100% and I'm voting that way today!

    Barbara,

We're going to have to disagree. I am confident in my view that Delgaudio has aspirations for bigger things, and that includes the 10th District Committee. I would suggest you talk with Randy Minchew and ask him directly. I think he'll change your assumption of Eugene not wanting the chairmanship.

As for why he's not been more aggressive, your assumption not mine, I would guess he'll be VERY vocal about it if his friend Mick Staton wins, and he has Mick Staton in his back pocket to support him.

Frantic, no I'd call it nervous.

You see Barb, there's one thing to count on, our votes are going to cancel each other out. That makes it a tie. So does that make me frantic no, concerned about a good turn out, yes. Hence, my appeal to common sense voters to get out and vote.

    Barb,

I swear I am banging my head against the wall on this. You can't be "bi-partisan" without having representation from TWO parties. So your continued reference to Democrats being part of the BlackOut PAC is true. What you refuse to admit is that there are a like number of Republicans that are part of the PAC.

What you don't seem to get is BlackOut is an opposition PAC. It has one purpose that is to provide exposure to the true motives of the wing-nut, extreme, and ineffective elements of OUR party, the Black Brigade. So, by definition that is going to ruffle some feathers. In doing so, I would call that success.

    Well ...

    Mark Herring Won !!!!

    http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/jan2006d/c_07_033.htm

What really torques me is the turnout:

Only 20,090 people in a county of over 100,000 registered voters thought it was necessary to come out an VOTE.

Tip O'Neill said that "all politics are local". Trouble is, people don't realize that the elections that affect YOU the most, transportation, housing, schools, etc, are the LOCAL ELECTIONS, not the Federal ones.

We'll see a 60% turnout (yeah, that's even lousy) for a Presidential or Senate election, but only 20% for state or county government.

And these are the elections that most affect YOUR pocketbook directly. State & Local sales taxes, property taxes, personal property taxes, gasoline taxes, road tolls ...

We had 471 people vote at Hillside yesterday. 471 out of a precinct of 3000 registered. Please don't tell me it takes too long, we had lines of 2 minute durations at the most. With a time of 6am to 7pm, you could have come out.

Obviously, it didn't mean anything to anyone ... of course this is the one that will help affect the way state and local govenments work. For most of the people living here, only thing the Federal government 'intrudes' on is their Federal Income Tax. By intrude, I mean something that they can see, there are thousands of things the Federal govenment does for us every day that you'll never notice.

However, if you look at what people complain about most, its always something to do with local or state government. Shoot, even at the HOA annual meetings, which are well advertised, and each owner gets a letter. If we see more than 300 people, often husbands and wives not individual homewowners, we're amazed. And the HOA affects everyone in Broadlands MOST directedly.

I am so disgusted I could spit, Eagle Ridge only had 411 people vote, and Eagle Ridge covers some areas not even in Broadlands.

    So ...

If you didn't VOTE ... don't COMPLAIN about what happens in Leesburg or in Richmond ... because, IMHO, when you didn't exercise your RIGHT and DUTY to vote, you really don't have the right to complain.

Well put, Neil. Unfortunately, those that didn't vote will probably be the ones that whine and complain the most...

Neil, amen. Little River was 79.8% only two elections ago. Yesterday 399 out of 3980 voted.
94% of Dulles district didn't vote.

Sorry about that, not much one can do about immigration laws. However, be cheered to know that once you complete your US Citizenship studies, you'll probably know more about the US Constitution and laws than the citizen's born here.

And I bet you will take that duty to vote as a requirement to be fulfilled no matter what inconvenience it may take to stand in line, give your name and address, then put your opinion into action.

Yup .. that was a Presidential election ... I'd like someone to tell me how that has affected them more, than the county or state elections?

We have always been among the highest percentage precincts in the county since it was split from Arcola--until last year and this. Awful.
