    Hello,

Does anyone know who I should contact about asking for a speed limit,or speed bump to be installed in my street ?
Since the opening road at Mill Run Elementary school, people are driving so fast on the Ridgeway Drive in Southwalk. I saw couple teenager kids were racing sometimes when turning to the school road in the afternoon. I have young kids and dogs, I am so worried!
    Any information would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

    Q.

    Bluepansee-
Ridgeway Drive is under the responsibility of the developer, Terrabrook, until they are turned over to VDOT. There is little to no chance of there ever being speed bumps.
Loudoun County Schools are responsible for the roadways on school property.

    Cliff,

    Thanks for the information.
I hope the school will put a school zone limit sign on Ridgeway drive soon, so that it will slow down those racing cars.

I just posted a response to the Nature Center cut-through, but I should have posted it here...

I couldn't agree more with Bluepansee's assessment of the problem on Ridgeway. It's a HUGE problem, and there's personal safety involved. I'd estimate average speed is about 45 MPH...in a school zone...on a residential street.

Cliff- not understanding from your reply why there's little to no chance for speed bumps. Is that because of VDOT or Terrabrook? Sounds like the school won't be doing it since Ridgeway is not school property. Do you know who specifically to contact to elevate this[?]

The issue with speed bumps would be VDOT. Ridgeway will eventually be turned over to VDOT, and my understanding is they will not allow speed bumps. They require too much maintenance and cause problems for snow plows. Terrabrook will not install them because VDOT won't allow them.
The Nature Center "cut through" is on private HOA property, and speed bumps can be installed there. The HOA can not act on this until Terrabrook turns the street over to the HOA.
