what about text-ahead ordering? they can have it ready when you pull up to the Test-Thru window- you can pay by credit card or better a starbucks card b4 hand and then it's even FASTER!!!!

    boy, i really hate starbucks.

    Second the Dunkin Donuts...

Does Starbucks manage / monitor the number of stores / proximity of them?

Yes, they do. They know how to saturate a market. Doesn't matter if there is one on every corner. They're not franchises.

They may be saturating this area but I'm all for it. They are feeding my addiction!

And I'm all for the "text-ahead" plan. I might even volunteer for the new program that SB is offering a select group. They will actually implant you with a chip so you can simply think "I would like an iced grande, skim, mocha (or what ever your drink happens to be)" and the nearest SB receives it, prepares the drink and pours it intro their "Starbucks Drink Transporter (or SBDT for short)." The sensation of the drink is then beamed directly into your olfactory, facial, and glossopharyngeal nerves (the smell and taste nerves). You don't even need to stop! In order to pay for the drink, the chip is loaded like an traditional SB card. Man, what will they think of next.

My vote is for doughnuts, dunkin' or otherwise. I'd prefer Krispy Kreme but I take what I can get. Doughnuts... the pastry of the gods.

They could make gazillions on this:) Even better if it works on Martinis too! Of course the chip would zap you if you try to drive!

Up in the WNY area, there's a chain called Tim Horton's and they are very good....haven't seen any down here yet. They sell donuts, coffee, snacks, breakfast, and sandwiches. I believe they're mostly in the Northeast....would love to see one down here. I for one am sick of Starbucks everywhere I turn. They are way too expensive and the coffee is pretty bad as well. Anyone interested in starting a Tim Horton's down here??? www.timhortons.com :)

I have to take responsibility for this one. I was born and raised in Seattle, was addicted to Starbucks LONG before I met rharse and even had Starbucks as a client way back in the 80s when they had less than 100 employees. (Once had dinner with Howard Shultz. Anyone impressed? :indiff2:)

rharse used to be a Seattle's Best Coffee (the chain formerly known as Stewart Brothers, for those who aren't up on their Seattle trivia) regular since there was one next to his office in Cambridge, MA. I brow-beat him until he saw the light and the man has since been addicted to Starbucks.

Sorry sharse, but Dunkin Donuts coffee is far superior in flavor, and I blame Starbucks for turning coffee from being a relatively cheap beverage to an overpriced one!!

He has only had it 3 or 4 times, but my 3 year old LOVES to drink his daddy's iced (usually decaf) mocha when he's given the opportunity.

Actually Starbucks has delicious blueberry and cran/orange muffins, as well as the best breakfast sandwich I have had in the area - Eggs Florentine Sandwich. The Chai coffee is the tastiest! Yes expensive but the bakery is delish.

I am so sad to hear that some of you like DD doughnuts - they are consistently some of the worst, driest, breadiest, lack of flavored doughnuts I have ever had. And this is across several states! OK if their coffee is so good that is only 50/50. Not a great establishment to wish for.

Remember the Fractured Prune is coming to Ashburn, made to order doughnuts. http://www.fracturedprune.com/ or for the Loudoun County location: http://www.fracturedprune.com/loudoun.php. I have never been but they look great!

Now we used to live near Tim Hortons in Columbus Ohio and they had it all. Good coffee, good lunch sandwiches, etc. I don't know about their doughnuts! But maybe a choice #2?
